I presume this is just what you think and not actual fact. Every rumour through media in Vancouver had said that Toronto had offered Bozak and a 2nd in the summer and Gillis said no. Granted they might be a bit off, but i doubt they are as far off as you would like to think.

I agree. Luongo is to old and the contract is to long. You can't afford to take on that contract when Markstrom looks like he might be ready. If he makes it you have painted yourself into the corner just like the Canucks. You can't pay your tenders that much money, even more so when you have an internal budget.

Markstrom also just put up a 3.20 GAA and .900 Sv %. Now Florida wasn't the greatest team in front of him but he played pretty bad all on his own as well.

A cheap Markstrom as a back-up makes it easier to eat the Luongo cap.

It is not fact that it has been reported anywhere or will ever appear on any news outlet but the offered returns were a lot less than anything reported. Gillis himself did say that everyone was throwing in a bad contract into the deal and was a deal breaker from Van's point of view. The rumors at work are far more accurate than what gets leaked.

I work closely with some of the coaches (video) and a lot of the prodcuers, directors and VPs of Rogers arena and it has been talked about quite a bit. Again nothing set in stone but just one of those things that goes around work. What Pierre mentioned above is fairly accurate. TO shot down any trade that did not include Van taking salary back, even for picks and prospects.
