I read the affidavits on the injunction yesterday. I am no lawyer, but the evidence looks pretty flimsy. I mean I also receive hateful phone calls, emails, and mean tweets, but have not hired security. And no evidence that Nate is urging that type of behaviour.

More significantly, with the injunction, Mriache got what he wanted with the defamation suit in December: the shutting down of the Breakdown, but without proving the allegations in court.

According to the MHCare affidavit, this hostility retched up after the Globe and Mail stories in early February. And which the Breakdown linked to and commented upon. Yet, the Globe and Mail is not being sued. Only a small independent outlet. The very definition of a SLAPP Suit.

You didn't quote it, but my favourite part of Duane Bratt's tweets on the affidavits was that Mraiche is alleging The Breakdown is profiteering with the Gofundme.

2) Nothing says getting rich like making a few hundred k to pay your legal bills while getting sued for *checks notes* 6 mill.

Our ####ing premier needs to step in IMMEDIATELY and shut that #### down. Our media needs to ask her about it, and her views, so we know what side she is on. And if she can't offer forward a FIRM separation from that path, she needs to step the #### down or be hung at the gates of Coutts as a traitor. No wiggle room.

It's not specifically stated, at least in my quick review.

The SOC was clearly drafted with an eye to the fact that the media would grab it right away, so there are certain things included and excluded for the court of public opinion.

To be fair though, Dan Scott is a great lawyer, and i am glad she hired a competent lawyer instead of certain "media" lawyers that tend to make a big fuss to the media and then their claim floats into obscurity (not before that lawyer gets more work out of the exposure).

I am just trying to get this right in my head, but they fired the deputy health minister, and that was the same guy they just appointed to run things? So, he was good enough to run things a few weeks ago and today he's been interfering too much? Is that how this goes or am I mixed up?

Striking to me was how much LaGrange hid behind "I'm preparing a statement of defence and won't address certain details" or, when pressed on a very specific detail that she suddenly reverts to "I already answered that question" when she clearly didn't.

The path of least resistance for Smith right now would likely be to let LaGrange take the fall for it if things turn south.

And presuming the investigation(s, I guess, as there's going to be an Auditor General one and a 3rd party) don't implicate Smith more directly.

My understanding is that Andre Tremblay was the Deputy Minister of Health and was tapped to become interim AHS CEO. However, the dual role wasn't comfortable for the UCP cabinet so they have moved him to the AHS role while adding a new Deputy Minister of Health.

So what happens when the AG's findings are at odds with Smith's "third party" findings? Is she going to suggest the AG report is not reliable and suggest their findings should be the ones to adhere to?
