He was a grinder but his two grand slams put him above Cash and tied with Rafter and was ranked number one in the world longer than Rafter albeit in what many refer to as a weak era.

So in the battle of the Lorenzo's, Sonego does Felix a solid by knocking off Musetti. That certainly opens the door for Felix to catch Musetti in the race for Turin.

Feels so strange to see Felix back in the top 10. That US Open semifinal kind of overshadows how bad he was in the AO, FO, and Wimbledon. It has been a volatile year though for many that started the year in the top 15 or so.

I didn't see the match mainly due to the fact that we had a power outage at my house, but Gabe put up a heck of fight versus De Minaur earlier today losing a tough 3 setter. First set went to a tie-break that the Aussie won 10-8, Gabe took set 2 6-4, De Minaur won the deciding set 6-3

Felix through to the quarter-finals in Paris as he dispatches Daniel Altmaier in three sets. He gets Valentin Vacherot on Friday.

Over in Hong Kong, both Victoria Mboko and Leylah Fernandez are into the quarter-finals of that tourney. Victoria knocked off Alex Eala in three sets in a teen battle overnight

By the way, if Felix gets by Vacherot on Friday (no easy task the way he's been playing lately), he will be 90 points behind Musetti in the race to Turin. Put simply, he needs to make the Paris final to get into the 8th and final qualification spot.

Overnight, Victoria and Leylah won their respective matches in Hong Kong (Victoria defeated Kalinskaya via walkover (6-3 3-1 ret.) while Leylah eliminated Cirstea in straight sets. That means we will have a clash of Canadians in the semi-finals, but it also means that we will have a Canadian in the Hong Kong final.

Felix just won the opening set over Vacherot 6-2 in 38 minutes. The thing is Vacherot played a pretty good opening set, Felix has just been on fire thus far today, Needs to keep his foot on the gas.

Felix into the Paris semi-finals following a 6-2 6-2 win over Vacherot in just 78 minutes. Now 90 points behind Musetti in the race to Turin, if he wins his semi-final match, he claims the 8th spot. There is also the Metz tourney next week (a 250) that counts towards the race as well, so he doesn't necessarily have to win on Saturday. Might as well take care of business though.
Edit: Felix will play the winner of Bublik vs. De Minaur, let's hope for a close to 3 hour marathon lol

In the clash of the Canadians in Hong Kong, Victoria emerged victorious 2-6 6-3 6-2 over Leylah and will take on Cristina Bucsa in the Hong Kong final.

Felix just took the opening set over Bublik in a tie-break (7-3 was the tie-breaker score). That is huge because Bublik can bubble over like Shapo and lose focus, if Felix can somehow get an early break in set 2, Bublik might just fold the tent.

So of course Bublik breaks Felix to love. I'll just shut up now.
Edit: Felix does break right back though and speaking of breaks, Bublik needs a new stick lol

Felix was down 1-4 in set 2 and then ripped off five straight games to take the match 7-6 6-4 over Bublik. Now in 8th spot for the race to Turin overtaking Musetti. I think he's focused on trying to win his first Masters 1000 tourney though.

If Felix can win Paris, he would jump all the way to 5th place in the race to Turin...

Victoria Mboko came from a set down to beat Leylah Fernandez 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semis of the Hong Kong open, a WTA 250 event.
Vicki plays Bucșa in the final, tomorrow at 2am.

Regardless of whether she wins or loses the Hong Kong final, Victoria will finish the year ranked #18 on the WTA tour. If I recall correctly, she started 2025 ranked #333 in the world.
