Also on Thursday, Stan vs. Novak could be a fun match.

All right, Bianca is into the quarter-finals after dispatching Petra Martic 6-4 6-4. Bianca awaits the winner between Iga and Vika.

Felix made that look pretty easy taking out Giron 6-3 6-2. When he's serving well, the rest of his game follows. Nice use of the drop shot today as well.

Bianca clearly isn't at the peak of her powers yet (remember in the lead-in to her US Open win when she was as unplayable as Swiatek is now?) so I imagine Iga will take this without much drama, but just getting back into QFs and looking more and more like herself is a win.
Incidentally, Iga is apparently just getting bored now... Spots Azarenka a 3-0 lead and then just casually pulls out a 6-1 6-1 victory the rest of the way.

Also, that win by Felix today has vaulted him to #8 in the live rankings which is a new career high.

Last match on clay between the two of them, Shapo had match points, he was so close he could see paradise by the dashboard light...

Novak wins the first set 6-2 over Stan in 30 minutes. It's going to take some time for Wawrinka to get his match play/fitness up to its usual level.
Edit: 6-2 6-2 and Novak barely broke a sweat today.

I'd like to see Denis throw in an underarm serve just to get the Italian crowd riled up lol

Yikes, maybe Polansky should come out of the coaches box and play Rafa because this is pretty sloppy tennis from Denis at the moment.

To be fair to Shapo, Rafa is playing some inspired tennis today.

Rafa goes off the boil and Shapo is up a break in set 2.
Edit: Consolidates the break even with throwing in some double faults. The TSN turning point might be Denis sending Rafa into the thorny roses as it's pretty clear Nadal got pricked.

The Canadians in attendance along with possibly some Italians are making quite a bit of noise cheering on Denis.
Edit: Groans from the Shapo supporters as he essentially breaks himself and we're back on serve in set 2.
