Not sure how Poitras is overrated.
He's a really good prospect. Is he a superstar? Probably not but id say he's a more valuable prospect then Brzustewicz.
His d+1 year was fantastic and his 19 year old d+2 proves he belongs atleast as a middle 6 NHL center.
You have to remember he's only 19, 2 years younger then coronato...

Getting Poitras and a 1st would be a win.
That kid has been on an insane upwards trajectory from not even playing in the OHL as a 16 year old to making an NHL roster at 19.
Grzelcyk is a guy you can extend for a 2-3 years who can play meaningful minutes, and Forbort can be used to acquire another mid round pick.
I'd be relatively happy with that deal.

Not sure you can pull that crap more than once.
Nothing keeping the Jersey / LA / Carolina GMs from discussing things too.

I'm not really high on Poitras but overall that's a reasonable package and in line with what I would expect. If it exceeds that - great. But I think people assuming it will, are setting themselves up for a disappointing return.

Agreed ...
Pick / Player / Prospect
Keep to the model and expectations should be in line.

Don't think it would matter. They already show you stuff from people you don't follow anyway.

Sure they can but how much do these guys really trust eachother? It wouldn't be the first time a GM has said to others I am not interested in someone and then acquired him. I think these guys respect eachother, I am sure some of them are even on friendly terms but these guys can be ruthless as well to get the best deal for their team. For me, I have heard that LA and Carolina have both reached out about Markstrom so I can't see all three teams working together to drive the price down on Markstrom, someone is going to stab someone in the back there.

Watching some.video on Poitras, he's got that nose for the soft spots in front of the net like Monahan does. Yeah, and a RHS to boot. That works for sure.

Maybe that is what the Bruins have tabled initially, I don't know, I don't have that information but maybe he does connected with the Bruins as he is. That would be a solid initial offer but there is time and Hanifin is a durable player, if I am Conroy I am using that time to try and negotiate for a better return.

They all talk. If they don’t believe each other then they leak using the media useful idiots to test reactions.
Unless a deal comes together super fast like the Dion deal, everyone will know about it in a day or two.

Well, if it's betwixt Boston and TB for Hanifin, then I'd take the Bruins offer. TB honestly have nothing the Flames need.
Just kinda hoping Zito capitulates and send ove Lundell for Hanifin..

love Poitras. Him, a 1st and something else is not too bad ... would obviously prefer someone like Lohrei, but if it's a Grzelcyk or Forbort, you can hopefully flip them for another pick at the deadline.

If Florida doesn't want Hanifin than Poitras is probably he best center prospect they will get and I don't think the Bruins will pay more for Hanifin than they did for Lindholm

Grzelcyk is a boston native, went to Boston University, was drafted by the bruins, developed on their AHL team and then signed a sweetheart deal with the Bruins.
I don't think they'll trade him, but if they do I imagine they're extremely confident that they can immediately re-sign him in the offseason when he's UFA.
BUT
I like the package. 1st + Poitras is good value, and we can trade Grzelcyk as a pure rental (if his injury isn't too severe.)
I think this might change the scope to acquire a D man in another return package though.

I think that is a pretty solid return. Potentially trade Forbort and Gryzelcyk at the deadline to the teams that lose out on Tanev. Wouldn't that be equivalent to a Poitras, 1st and maybe a 2nd and a 4th? That's fine. Or keep one or both of the UFA D. We'll need something short term.
