Alberta Health Minister Adriana LaGrange says an unnamed third party has been called in for an investigation into reports of high-level government interference and questionable deal-making in medical contracts and product buys.

“We are going to have an external party do it, and so I am looking forward to making information — as much as possible — public so that people know what’s going on,” LaGrange told reporters at the legislature Tuesday.

Hold on a sec there, an un-named third party? Not the RCMP or Auditor General? It's Preston ####ing Manning, isn't it?

I don't want to pick on you Fotze but there's been a lot of these comments in multiple threads. Corruption is not an all sides thing. It doesn't happen all the time. Citizens deserve to have confidence in their publicly elected institutions and there should be outrage when deserved vs the "my team" mantra.

I have seen no evidence of Alberta NDP corruption, nor Alberta Party or former Wild Rose.

Most City Counselors have been on the straight and narrow, even when you disagree with them (a couple current exceptions).

Federally the NDP, Bloc and Green have been transparent. And in the past PC I thought were good too.

I hate the race to the bottom garbage. If we didn't constantly criticize leadership maybe better people would run for office.

Alleged cartel alleged kingpin Cal Wenzel allegedly funded and alleged honeypot schemed to allegedly entrap Nenshi into alleged honeypot scheme. Allegedly. It was allegedly laid out on a silver platter for Nenshi to allegedly personally benefit with little to no risk. Instead, Nenshi directed this alleged 'investment' to the proper channels

It was kind of like a weird fidelity test where one partner's very attractive sibling does everything they can to seduce the future spouse. Nenshi stayed faithful.

So we can feel pretty good about where one prospective premier stands on this stuff.

I have though, so that’s the difference. Just Smitty has been there longer. There’s no race, they are all there already. No one won.

Probably the dumbest crap I’ve ever read here. You are garbage for typing that. A world class surgeon just transformed my life with miraculous stuff and knowledge.

When these clowns feel that tinge in their chest or wherever, and the patchouli oil isn’t cutting the mustard they head to the hospital when truly scared because they know they are stupid, but we should tattoo these people and and when they try and get in, the idiot surgeon come out with a Inglourious Basterd baseball bat and cracks them in the skull.

This is one of the most ignorant, myopic, and idiotic posts I've seen on CP in a long time.

I hope you back this up with words directly to the medical staff when you're at the hospital one day and they're saving your life. And guess what - they'll STILL look past your ignorance because of their oath to help any human in need.

If anything, YOU don't deserve doctors and surgeons.

I realize that this is off-topic now, but it's ridiculous. A business entertaining clients trying to generate more taxable revenue should absolutely be able to write that off.

That’s not fair. I’m sure they’ve already created a new shell company for just this purpose.

You are 100% correct. As soon as we start saying "they all do it" we start trivializing a very serious issue.

Remember when the Klondike Papers came out and a bunch of Cons tried entrapping Nenshi in some corruption scheme. He didnt take the bait, but a couple of right wing councilors did.

At that point I knew I could trust Nenshi going forward. You may not like his politics/policies, but you cannot question that he's not in it for himself

Except maybe for his 3 pensions. But he probably gives those to charity.

LOL. He's supposed to work for free now? God, people have the most outrageous expectations of people in public office (and public service for that matter). Meanwhile, the CEO of a corporation the size of the City of Calgary is earning millions of dollars a year...

You know there's a difference between Nenshi receiving the pensions that were established at the time by City of Calgary policy, through a separate compensation committee (which has since recommended & council accepted elimination of the 3rd 'top up pension')...... and allegedly handing public taxpayer dollars at above market rates to private beneficiaries with potential kickbacks, right?

Cause reasonable people can debate whether that is appropriate compensation, but the other is corruption.

Interestingly, I don't remember anybody complaining about Bronconnier getting three pensions.

TIL you are looked down on if you receive a pension(s), even if you legally earned it and are entitled to it.

He isn't even receiving it yet. He's only 53!

What a stupid comment. Instead of chastising someone for deservedly getting 3 pensions, go get your own pensions. Try for 4 pensions.

Goriders is clearly just jealous of Nenshi. Why don't you work harder and pull yourself up by your bootstraps, Goriders, instead of whining online about someone more successful than you?

At that point isn’t it essentially profiting twice?

If they fail to drum up the extra business or decide to shut down operations the following year they essentially get a write off for zero benefit to the taxpayers.

I’m not saying businesses shouldn’t have the ability to write off any of these types of expenses but I think your view of it as an absolute necessity is rype for abuses.
