Let's not be fooled here by the hype, there were much better skiers than guay and Paradis. Brydon is nothing special as well with many more world class skiers ahead of her.
Hollingsworth was a disappointment and Morrison as well to some extent but your initial statement is a little exagerated

My biggest issue is not necessarily that they were over rated but how much they were over hyped. I think people who were familiar with world cup standings probably aren't surprised by these results...but the way they were over hyped and for the naive fans like myself, it sure is frustrating to watch when they hype it up saying that these Canadians should be winning medals.

Too bad her worst run was the last one. The pressure is getting to them. The thing is...it works both ways. Either there is too much pressure on them being at home, or there is an advantage by having the home crowd. Which one is it?

Here's hoping Montgomery can salvage a Skeleton medal tonight.
0.26 behind the leader, but 0.58 ahead of third, going into the 3rd run which starts in 25 mins.

Sure there were but having a home hill advantage should help you at least get onto the podium. I'm not saying get Gold but Paradis who grew up on that hill finished in the teens. Also hearing Britt Janyk who finished 6th and by watching her interview you would've thought that she won Gold. She was saying how happy she was with her run and that she raced the best she could've. Really?
As a person who has watched every minute of the Olympics so far and have been subjected to all the hype about Owning the Podium, it's just a little disheartening that's all.

another thing people need to realize when they refer to choking in speed events. One slight error and you are done. The margin for error is so minimal that these things are bound to happen.
Now in a situation like hockey or curling where you have numerous chances and time to figure things out that's a different story.

Canadians have one at least one medal everyday of the olympics. Montgomery will hopefully keep that streak alive.

You have to say that it was a fantastic set of runs by Amy Williams though.
And look at that Great Britain actually won a gold medal at these games. Amazing!
I'm in the interesting position of having two countries to root for in these games.

The US and Germany are owning everyone but I expect us to make it closer soon. The US will still get a lot of medals with speedskating, possibly Vonn, and figure skating though...

Another Canadian choke job when it comes to winning a medal. These Olympics are starting to be a bit of a disappointment.

The most overhyped was Patrick Chan, I thought he could at least do a quad with all the attention he was getting.

Hollingsworth was tearing up in that interview. You could tell from her eyes that she must have been crying a river in the back. That was tough to watch... but she really did choke under that pressure.
Hopefully Montgomery can come through!

Disappointing. Should always at least medal when your bib says #1.

Is anyone watching this segment on Canadian pride on CTV right now? So inspirational. I'm off to Vancouver tomorrow and can't wait.

Ice Dance is pretty boring cause
a) I don't know how to dance so I can't tell if their steps are good
b) nobody falls on their ass

Respect to Melissa for coming on to talk to Farhan. She was devastated - said the pressure did not bother her, but you have to wonder about all the expectations.

That essay by Stephen Brunt was really good. And yeah, that's gotta be tough for Hollingsworth to give an interview right after losing like that...perhaps there's too much pressure on our athletes.

Great run by Montgomery with a track record on his run.
Likely still silver, but a solid run and cut .08 off the leaders advantage going into round 3.
