A bettor in Florida won $5.5 million on a $500,000 four-leg NFL parlay with the newly reopened Hard Rock sportsbook when Texans kicker Matt Ammendola hit a 38-yard field goal on the final play to lift Houston to a 30-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The four legs of the same-game parlay were:

• The Houston Texans to beat the Cincinnati Bengals

• The Texans-Bengals to go over 44.5 points

• Texans running back Devin Singletary to score a touchdown

• Singletary to go over 51.5 rushing yards

They all hit, as the underdog Texans upset the Bengals. Singletary rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Stroud completed 3 of 4 passes to get Houston into field goal position on the final drive.

Only the ones involving garbage teams playing garbage football. There have been some outstanding games the last few weeks. Last week, Eagles/Cowboys and Texans/Bucs were great games. Yesterday you had a whole slew of competitive games between teams with talent (Browns/Ravens, Bengals/Texans, Washington/Seattle, Chargers/Lions).

Just sucks we've now had to sit through a ridiculous number of primetime games featuring the Steelers, Raiders, Giants, and Jets, all of whom are completely inept offensively.

And are we supposed to lie to ourselves? Since the SNF game involved the Raiders I'm sure dino will try and sell us that it was a close, competitive, well played, hard fought game between two decent teams, and not the below CFL calibre football it actually was. I've said this before but it really does feel like we've reach peak mediocrity in the NFL. There are 5-6 great teams, 5-6 really terrible teams, and 20-22 teams who can beat each other any time, while being able to lose to those 5-6 terrible teams any time, and having almost no shot of beating the 5-6 great teams.

If you can lay 500k on an 11:1 odds bet...chances are the winnings of that don't make any real impact on your overall net worth. That book on the other hand...Tyler Boyd might want to make sure he has 24 hour security.

The golden age of QB's just ended and it seems some fans haven't adjusted to the fact that this is what football looks like when 1/3 of the league isn't starting HOF quality QB's. It's going to take some time before we hit another era like the last one. Last night's game was competitive which is half the battle but there's no doubt the quality of QB play isn't that great but it is what it is and as a football fan any football is better than no football.

You must be new the the NFL. We were all force fed the Sanchez and Eli years of crap play. NY markets are going to get a handful of primetime games every year as they always have.

The NFL is generally terrible at developing QBs. You can see the arm talent that guys like Zach Wilson has but they don't get the proper development. Syl mentioned it last week. The NFL has a QB crisis right now. A proper development league would do wonders for the quality of the games.

All I can do is laugh at the notion of a "QB Crisis". We are not even that far removed from that Chiefs-Rams 54-51 game on MNF that many were decrying as the end of defense in the NFL. And now, within 10 years, we're talking about a QB crisis lol. I just hope we don't see the rules swung even more heavily in favor of offense, or we start seeing something like QB contracts exempt from the salary cap. The bigger issue is it just seems in the last year or two 2/3 of the weekly primetime lineup features at least one QB you could deem as unwatchable, often it's both. League is just in a bad run of primetime games, and as long as it is a league with four broadcast partners we will never get the ability to always flex the best games into primetime. The league lets them protect games, they of course wisely protect games that deserve to be protected, even as it leaves a bunch of poo in primetime.

I don't think there was a time where 10 teams had future HOF players at the position There are still a number of teams who are in decent shape at the position. But there are a number of teams in tough shape at the midway point which seems abnormal. Having teams like the Packers, Steelers, Giants, Jets, Bears, and Raiders who have large followings but are all in bad shape at QB right now likely makes it seem worse too.

There's a lot of frustration that the NFL promised more flex scheduling, but really has not delivered thus far. The league speculated that the Jets with Rogers would be better and the Giants last year were not a fluke. Both of those blew up yet they never adjusted the scheduling to suit. I also think it's a really backloaded schedule this year too as the second half starts to mix a few more top teams against top teams.

I kind of agree with you. A rich guy making a $500k bet isn’t super exciting. 11 to 1? Yay I guess. Sometimes I draw a 5 on a 16 too.

^Flex scheduling changes were mostly about the end of the season, I believe this year networks can't protect games starting in week 15, whereas before the only week they had no protection was week 18 (17 before that). But this is the double edged sword the league has to deal with, and I kind of sympathise with them. They try to provide more balance and not just have every primetime game feature the same 5-7 teams, but there is inherent risk that the teams they think will be ok end up sucking. Denver last year was a monumental disaster with how much the league banked on them being good, only to be arguably the least watchable team in the league.

As much as primetime has sucked this year, for me RedZone/Sunday afternoon games have really dropped too. The first half of last year was loaded with so many weeks of intense action, whereas this year has seen more bad games and fewer good endings. Yesterday was by far the best week of RedZone this year. It's just how it is, bad football is still better viewing than most sports, hopefully we have a better finish to the year then it started.

Yeah its not the odds that make it noteworthy but the fact its one of the biggest reported parlay losses ever by a sportsbook.

Quote:
One of the largest payouts on a parlay bet ever reported by a U.S. sportsbook came down to the final seconds and a winning drive authored by Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Or you know...don't watch or post about it if it's so terrible

And yeah the Raiders have a lot of players worth watching IMO

If you don't like Maxx Crosby you don't like football

Below CFL lol

I love Maxx Crosby. Hopefully the Raiders don't waste his career the way they wasted Woodson's before he went to Green Bay.

The Raiders have exactly 3 players that are worth watching at the moment. Hopefully Mayer keeps developing, because he looks like he could be good.

The Bills will probably grind this one out and win it, but they continue to look listless almost every week. You would think McDermott is 100% gone if they miss the playoffs.

That is a really good catch by Sutton. Held on after the cheapshot, than keeps his feet in.
