Well another thought is DS for VP hockey ops. Darrel can decide on the new GM. This would not be unreasonable after spending half a season in the dressing room. I think BT has lost the owners and the players. I think BT is out by the end of the season.

If the Flames hire a new GM, I just hope it's someone with a proven winning track record. Someone who has shown to be good with asset management.
Why get a mystery box when you can have a boat.
If not, they might as well keep Treliving.

Honestly, Dean Lombardi makes too much sense.
Another wild name: David Poile

I could actually see Lombardi being brought in, depending on whether or not he's willing to move to Canada.

With an experienced guy like Lombardi coming in, you most certainly could get rid of the other asst gms in Pascall and Snow as well, for example (save on salaries by not replacing each of them) and running with just one Asst GM in Conroy. If management costs are an issue.

I am not going to comment whether this is right or wrong...but I don't think the Flames are firing Snow anytime soon.
I wouldn't mind Treliving, Maloney, and Pascall gone though... Honestly, maybe it's time for Conroy to either leave or get a bigger role too.

Oh yes, I see what you mean. I’m looking at it from a purely sports and salary viewpoint. Nothing more or less. Which is why I suggested it as an option.

I do not want DS anywhere near the GM position. His last try at that was disastrous and people must have pretty short memories if they want him back.
Lombardi makes sense but is he the best choice? Who else is proven and would welcome the chance to reinvigorate a fan base and franchise just before a new arena? Please, no more projects in our boardroom.

Lombardi is a proven winner. He was part of San Jose becoming a powerhouse, then went on to win 2 cups with LA.

No thanks to Conroy. They need to clean house and start fresh so the new management team feels no allegiances to the current team and can make the best moves for the organization. Conroy also seems like more of a yes man, people pleaser type and thats the last thing the organization needs right now. Someone needs to start making "tough" decisions.

That’s the pedigree needed. Not the Arizona Coyotes cast offs.

I don't even know who's available other than Lombardi.
Mike Gillis? He only GMd Vancouver, and most of the elite players were already there before he came.
If Columbus (Kekäläinen), Anaheim (Murray), or Chicago (Bowman) fire their GMs, those would be interesting. Poile seems to be safe for now.
Otherwise, there's not a lot to choose from without looking at the CHL or European leagues.
Other than that, I could see the Flames promoting Maloney... I guess he did win GM of the year in 2010.

Yes, I would in a heartbeat.
In that case, congrats to Brad for getting assets for free.
That would actually be good asset management, which is rare for the Flames.

I agree. Sorry, I edited my original post as it was in the wrong thread. That would be asset management for sure.

Calgary is a much tougher market but I wouldn't be against it. Would he actually come here though.
#### weather, fans breathing down your neck, most players don't want to play here...guess it depends how badly he wants to be a GM

Yeah that would be the question-Lombardi is an American, and he's got a good job as an exec with the Flyers. Would he even come here?
Honestly, I wouldn't mind Maloney in the GM's chair-he's well respected around the league, has connections, and was really in a horrible situation in PHX. As mentioned above, he was GM of the year in 2010.

David Poile has been the GM of the Predators since they came in the league. He’s also their POHO and he’s 71. I would imagine Poile is quite comfortable living in Nashville outside of his hockey career.
I’ll go out on a limb and say Poile is not going to leave the Predators to join the Flames. Far more likely he hires a GM in Nashville and stays on as POHO, if anything happens there.
