Well. Yeah. I'll admit there were some enjoyable scenes, its pretty obvious who the main target audience is.
The acting was brutally hammy all around though and...is somebody getting paid every time a character says the name 'Jack?' The repetition is ridiculous.
And the plot is paper thin and, I believe, stolen from a cartoon.
That being said, the score was excellent, the cinematography was first-rate and they clearly have some people whose only responsibility is to introduce starships and they know what they're about.

This is such a Star Trek thing. Everybody is promoted to Captain or Admiral from one series to the next. I am surprised Starfleet had enough ships to hand out to every bridge crew that became a captain.

Well it seems like they've got a lotta ships!
I cant wait for the series Finale when they unveil Commodore Barclay and Chief O'Brien and Ensign Kim.
Kim never gets promoted and Miles must suffer!

I like how the ships spelt out “BOOBS”. Those Borg have such a sense of humour.

Yep. Sure there are all kinds of logical problems but it doesn't matter. I do wish the actor that plays Jack would dial it down a bit.
As for going to the well once again so what, it's either that or invent some new menace that will end up being not as good.

I got serious ST Armada vibes when the fleet was arrayed to destroy starbase 1. Also I will cry if they actually destroy that beautiful beast.
I have a new theory, I kept saying madlibs before but I am actually convinced that this plot was written by an AI. It has just that surrealist twist to it that could only come from the brain of a machine churning through thousands of hours of star trek and regurgitating it in recompiled form.
Logic? Psh.
If the borg could find leverage over shapeshifters, then they wouldn't need to care about the federation at all. They could swallow the ####in dominion. The federation would be totally inconsequential. If the borg created a bio technology to assimilate under 25s (ignoring all the stupidity herein) why did it manifest as borg black implants instead of invisibly like it does within Picard and Jack? They can't even follow their own strange logic consistently. It's very frustrating.
Finally, what the H happened to the enterprise E?

Well, won't have to worry about Riker being in her way anymore.

Strategically it made sense if Riker was just waiting out Picard, since he was pretty old at that point, and then assuming a natural progression, commanded Starfleet’s flagship. Of course the whole Enterprise getting destroyed put a wrench in that.

Picard wasn't that old though? If Picard was supposed to be the same age as his actor, he wasn't even at actual middle age for the current life span of average humans in Nemesis (120+ years). He was more likely to get a promotion than age out and was and had demonstrated that same streak as Kirk (pass on promotion out of the chair as much as possible) as seen by Janeway reaching admiralty before the decade plus captain of the Flagship.
Patstew's hair line always made Picard feel older than he was.

Patrick Stewart was 47 when TNG started but it was established that Jean Luc Picard was 59 during season 1. Roddenberry wanted to show that people in the 24th century were physically fit well into their 70s.

Then he would have been just over 70 in Nemesis which means he's still not about to leave when the series reached its initial conclusion.

Well Shelby sure used her ambition well. She became a 5 star admiral and she was a lieutenant commander in Best of both Worlds. Ended up outranking Picard and Janeway.

It fits her character, she always had career aspirations. Riker is the Harry Kim of promising young officer career progression.

Starfleet just needs a new rank for those Kirks and Picards that are way better making a difference in the bridge chair than doing an admiral's desk job.
This is an ongoing problem with their HR and succession planning.
