I was following along on-line (live score update) of yesterday's match and Milos has to be kicking himself. He served for the match in the second set and was broken, but in the tie-breaker he was up 5-1 and lost that tie-breaker 8-6. He had a total of 17 break point opportunities in the match and converted four of them.

Alex Zverev knocks off Stan Wawrinka to win his first ATP title (first teenager to win an ATP title since Marin Cilic won way back in 2008).

Nole is starting to run low on competitive fire:

Novak Djokovic says Grand Slam trophies and the No. 1 ranking are no longer his priorities.
The top-ranked Serb, who has won 12 major titles, said after a light training session in Belgrade on Friday that he felt emotionally drained after winning the French Open in June for his first Grand Slam on clay. He became only the third man to win all four major tournaments in a row, something last done almost 50 years ago.
''I psychologically felt huge pressure, and now I'm no longer thinking about the number of titles. If they come, super, I will accept them,'' Djokovic said. ''After all, tennis is not the only thing in the world.''

aside from the physical toll as you age, this is the other thing that eventually took all the other greats out of the running when they got to 30. I still think he's got a decent chance to tie Rafa for slams, but there isn't going to be a lot more when the guys below him are hungrier and still improving.

I wonder how much his loss at the Olympics impacted him? I can't remember him having that kind of a reaction before.
Great article. Thank you for sharing. The psyche of tennis players is so interesting, given that it's such an individual sport and your window for true success is usually narrow.

Milos is seeded third for the China Open (ATP 500 event) this week. He is in Rafa's side of the draw (Nadal is seeded #2). Andy Murray is the top seed.

Maria has had her suspension reduced by nine months. Suspension will end in April 2017. Unfortunate but it was always unlikely that she would really serve the full two years.

Milos update:
He beat Malek Jaziri in straight sets to move onto the quarterfinals in Beijing. Up next, Carreno Busta or Gasquet.

Milos with a pretty decisive victory over Busta today to reach the semis. Will be a tough test against a surging Dimitrov but one that is within reach.
Good to see the big man back in form after a couple lackluster events. 4th in the world is within reach if he makes the final.

Disappointing as I was looking forward to watching the Milos - Dimitrov match on PVR. Oh well, hope he heals quickly.

Milos qualified for the London showdown, which is good. His injuries are worriesome though. Time off to rest wouldn't be the worst thing for him.

No time to rest! Milos is in the Shanghai Masters 1000. Bye into Round 2.
Vasek has qualified for Shanghai and will play Ivo Karlovic in Round 1

Nick Kyrgios beat David Goffin 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to take the Rakuten Japan Open. It is his first ATP 500 Series title. I saw some of the match and it was an entertaining affair, when Kyrgios is focused, he's a heck of a player.

I guess we'll see. The season is much too long, IMO.

Vasek with a nice win over Dr. Ivo at the Shanghai Masters (7-6 6-4). He will next face the winner of Dimitrov - Gasquet

Yup it is but you gotta pick your spots. Milos has Davis Cup too so he really has to be careful. He can only play 20 tournaments a year or else his body will break down. He's only counting 15 right now.
