I'm hearing military choppers outside. Can anyone confirm? Trees are in the way.
There are a bunch of military personnel who are in the Calgary area or who are on standby to go to the Calgary area. Personally I don't understand why because it isn't like there is anything that they can actually do at the current time, next to wait for the water to recede and assist in cleaning up the mess. If it was a matter of filling sandbags, then I understand but when it is just a matter of waiting for mother nature to finish her wrath, I don't see the purpose.
This guy knows what's about to go down... a short "before" video showing the South Saskatchewan while it's still recognizable as a river. Hopefully tomorrow we get the "after" vid from the same spot.
Millarville Racetrack entrance road has been cut in half . . . . . Farmers Market this weekend is cancelled. Was just over there.
These 100 year floods sure happen a lot.

Possible providing relief for emergency personnel that have been on all night?
I'm not really one to toot the "We are awesome" horn just for the sake of doing it, when it really isn't warranted.
But, I have been really impressed with how the whole thing has been handled. Through the City of Calgary, Mayors office, Calgary police et al. Impromptu news conferences, the use of social media and the general lack of panic. It really has been impressive.

Anyone know if the 14st bridge over the river is closed? I cant see how it wouldnt as at around noonish there was water up to the top of my wheels driving by the chicken on the way. But im not seeing it on any of the road or bridge closures. Trying to find out if ill even be able to get out of my area this weekend or if I'm stranded in bankview.
