Nah, just came here for my daily intake of Jankowski.
I left disappointed because we aren't talking about him.

Will Butcher is going UFA tomorrow. He was the Hobey Baker winner last year.
That might be the only exciting thing to happen this week in the hockey world?

No. This week is actually full of exciting stuff.
- Bennett will sign an 8 year, 3.5 million deal.
- Flames are trading Brouwer for a 2nd round pick
- Flames are signing Iginla to a 1 year, 1 million deal
- Flames are signing Jagr to a 1 year, 2 million deal
- Edmonton is going to match an offer-sheet from Montreal in the 7 year 9.9 million (Germany Gretzky after all) for Draisaitl
Lots of excitement this week.

He probably has a poor attitude like Dougie did.

speaking of lack of rumours and hockey talk, last year there was that flames podcast over the summer, which helped the lull of sports talk at this stage of the summer... anyone know if they are still broadcasting that (or any other flames talk podcasts available for that matter)??
Sports radio is killing me these days (living here in toronto), there is only so much baseball/jays talk i could take, but now that they suck, it's just so boring. At least some NFL storylines from camp are coming up but the meat of it, is still a ways away...

Not sure if anyone was listening this am, but Pinder said he has a contact in Edmonton who says Draisaitl contract talks aren't going well. Apparently Drai is asking $10mil/year.

I am of the opinion there is a no-lose situation for Edmonton with Draisatl. Either they pay/keep him and he's a dangerous 1-2 combination with McDavid, or they trade him and some team will pay a bounty for him. Delicate situation though, especially since I think his signing will set the base for other young RFA's in the future (e.g. Pastrnak).

I guess that's possible but I would be surprised Pinder of all people has a contact with rumors that no one else in the hockey world has picked up on.

Hearing something doesn't make it true at all, but he doesn't seem the type to make things up.

Except he was pretty mediocre (much like the rest of the team) when he was away from McDavid.

Can we drop this already? I love the nostalgia factor but this ship has sailed. Jagr brings more than nostalgia, he actually brings the ability to still play the game at a high level while making his teammates around him better.
I for one don't see us adding anyone else, the extra cap space will be used to re-sign Bennett and possibly add a piece at the trade deadline.

Stop the "Iginla brings nothing".
Iginla would bring much needed grit and opponent accountability to the bottom 6 role.

Well, you've missed at least one possibility. They pay/keep him and he doesn't live up to the contract.

Pinder is an annoying dude at times for sure, but he has also been around the game since he was born if even at a bit of an arms length.
He knows NHL people at all levels and in all capacities. If he said he heard this from someone, there is zero reason to doubt him. That doesn't mean it's absolutely true or the person he heard it from knows precisely what the situation is, but it doesn't mean it isn't happening that way either.
Much like the Bennett situation in Calgary, there is something holding up the deal getting done, and an ask of 10 million would be as likely an explanation as anything else after seeing what his linemate just received moving forward.

I never said he brings nothing....he just doesn't bring anything I want to see Iginla do. I would rather see him play for Team Canada at the Olympics.

Weeks ago the Agent said he wasn't asking for $10 million. So I guess we shall see.
