Only the top 6 highest paid male models make more than the NHL league minimum.
If he can become a legitimate NHL starter, he'll make a lot more money than he ever could as a ridiculously good looking male model (and the average career for a professional model is about the same as for a professional hockey player).

Clearly a case of gender discrimination. Equal pay for equal work!

Throwing this against the wall - would you trade Wideman to Colorado for Iginla?
The money is a wash, and positionally it does seem to help both teams. Now I say that knowing very little about Colorado's d situaton. But Wideman at $5M seems like he may be of more value to the Avs than Iggy.
We get a stop gap top 6 RW.
I'd do it.

I would enjoy watching Iginla ride shotgun for Bennett.
But you'd need a pretty damn good left winger on that line.
I've watched Jarome a few times this season. His game is:
Up the ice, back down the ice, then change. Short shifts.
PP
Angry old guy
That's what you're getting.

I actually think he often takes too-long shifts.
Pretty much only good for the PP at this time, but it's better than nothing.

No. I hate Wideman, but Iginla is too old and too slow. Rather spend that type of money elsewhere and then worry about moving Wideman.

I'd rather trade Wideman for picks and clear his cap hit out altogether.
As for getting a RWer with size and grit, I'd look to add Chris Stewart on a cheap one year deal.

I don't see treliving as a stop gap guy. Any moves are made for the future. Can't see it happening.

19th in points for RW in the league. Seeing as there are 30 teams, these are top line winger points, no?
On the PP point, that is after all a place the Flames are one of the worst teams.

but not for our top six though.
Stewart isn't anywhere near a top 6 player. At this point he's Bollig with flashes of Bouma.

Yeah but I don't think that's happening. If it is, the Flames are retaining salary. And that means there's an extra 2.5M in dead money on the blue line that already includes $7m in dead weight in Smid/Engelland (contracts, not to disparage their heart or effort). If they couldn't deal Wideman after last year, the suspension and the season ending injury won't help his value.
If Treliving turns Wideman into Iginla, at least the money is redistributed to a position of need without tying us to another larger long term pact.

I could maybe see it happening if Iginla still owned a home in Calgary.

What do people think Colborne's next contract will look like (or will he be moved)?
He's 26 so even though he only has 3 years of NHL service he's going to be a UFA at the end of next year if he signs another one year deal. But this isn't a great year for the flames to be locking up complimentary parts long term and you'd hope they learned a lesson from Raymond.
That said 15G-17A with 10 games to go, he will probably want a Lance Bouma type deal. Predictions?

I predict 3 years $5.4 million total. AAV of $1.8 million.
He could probably ask for a Bouma contract and get it but I think he takes a discount.

I could see them pushing for something like 2-3 years, 1.5-2 AAV. Maybe 2 a year if its 2 years, or 1.5 if its 3
Let him choose if he wants that extra year of security for only 500k more total

Don't see the Av's wanting to do it. Yes they need D help, but they don't need more bottom pairing d-men. Why give up a second line RW for a bottom pairing D man?
