Not saying much...All Wallace did in Seattle was run around like a chicken with his head cut off until he launched the ball into double coverage thinking he was still in college. But Holmgren swore up and down as he was leaving Seattle that Wallace would be a starter in the NFL...well, he has him again. Delhomme is playing out the string and will pinball around to one or two more teams before retirement. McCoy is a high level college QB who's played in big games and under pressure, and thrived, so not surprising to see the results.

I hope he does well and think he will. He almost literally blew up his knee and damaged everything there was to damage, and as such its been a long road back. Had both Tramon Williams and Sam Shields not stepped up their games, he would have been retained by the Packers.

As long as he can still pivot as he once did, he has the smarts and the savvy to be a dominating CB.

So how bout them Vikings? I think they've got a chance to go real deep with Favre, one of the best, if not the best of all time as their QB.

I just think he needs to work on learning to take a sack instead of just throwing it up to be intercepted. Still think they can make the playoffs and go far. One of the only reasons I watch NFL is to see Favre succeed.

CFL is still better though , but only because I can cheer on a home team.

Chad Pennington to start for the Dolphins this weekend. A little surprised but every time I watch Henne play he looks terrible. I can't believe he was being so hyped up on the offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if Pennington keeps the job until his eventual shoulder injury.

I can't see him starting. We have one very good corner in Vontae Davis, and Sean Smith is a good corner. Both have a lot of upside, he's been brought in probably more to help mentor these young guys and most likely provide support in nickle situations as Benny Sapp has been horrible. Jason Allen who started as our corner this year was an epic fail and a draft bust. It was time to cut him loose.

I am very surprised at this. Pennington definatley can hit the touch pass and Henne has major problems with that. Pennington won't throw too many picks. Henne has the tools but he must be having problems with his mechanics because he's got one hell of an arm.

Henne did pretty good last year, I also tend to think Henne has a terrible offensive co-ordinator that is not helping him succeed. Dan Henning needs to be fired!!!!!!!!!

I just hope this doesn't break Hennes confidence the coaches seem to be desperate. It's not like we lost to bad teams all 4 of our losses have been against teams that are 6-2.

I think he can become a Matt Ryan type QB (good but not excellent) Perhaps good enough to help win a superbowl, but not good enough like a Brady/Manning to win the superbowl on his own.

Strange giving Pennington the start because he canot go downfield better than Henne.

Marshall is due for a big day and I thought we may see it this weekend against a very suspect Titans secondary. Odd move.

Yeah, unless there is an injury here, I don't know if I'm getting this move for the Dolphins. Pennington is a smart QB who by all accounts will probably be one hell of a coach one day if he wants to be. But this is a guy who never had a great arm and has had a couple major shoulder injuries. Still he is a touch and timing guy, and maybe he's better suited to running an offence who want to have 15 play drives that eat up 11 minutes of clock. Perhaps it's an identity the Dolphins are trying to get back to.

Love these quotes from un-named Viking players. The Childress circus continues chugging along.

Quote:
"We know that [Brad] Childress doesn't have our backs, so why should we have his?" one player told the newspaper. "We're playing for us, and we're winning despite him."

"We got too many good football players, and we won't lay down like Dallas," one player told the newspaper.

"As much as I hate Childress," another player told the Sun-Times, "I will keep playing."
Now ,normally I wouldnt put much stock into this kind of stuff without names attached, but in this case it is a little different. The recent history of the teams complete dysfunction points towards this being much more likely being said than not, and the NFL doesnt have guarenteed contracts which would allow these guys protection financially if they were to be cut by Childress in retribution. You also dont want this stuff attached to you going forward as other coaches may very well "blackball" you as a problem player.

Dan Henning will retire at the end of the season. IIRC, he came out of retirement when BP came over to the Dolphins. Now that BP is gone, I don't see Henning sticking around. Unless Garrett really turns the Cowboys around, I see him as the next offensive coordinator in Miami.

Personally, I think it is time for a change in the entire coaching staff in Miami. Along BP, these guys have brought them back to a respectable level but that all make some major mistakes during games that seems to cost the team.

Apparently Henne had no idea that Pennington was going to start this week. He was informed as he watching film of the Titans. Still not sure why the move is being made but it might be an indication that the organization is not happy with Henne's development, not all of that should be put on him though. Its going to be interesting to see what the Fins do at the draft. They clearly need a young RB and maybe now a QB as well.

Completely disagree. There's a need to make some changes, but a fullscale overhaul is a massive overreaction and completely couterproductive to building a winning team. You don't replace an entire staff 3 years into a rebuild that has been an overall success, that's ridiculous. All that does is guarantee a few more years of growing pains, at which point you do what? Replace the staff again?

This isn't Childress' first time with these sorts of allegations either. There were a lot of rumours that him and McNabb didn't see eye-to-eye when he was in Philly, and that's why Andy Reid handled the play-calling when he was there.

Matt Ryan has a pretty ridiculous record when playing in Atlanta iirc.

My expectations aren't too high for tonight, either way it should be a close game.

Should be a pretty good game. I think the Ravens are the better team, but Matt Ryan is 17-1 in his career at home. I think I'll go with the Ravens since Roddy White may not play and is certainly less than 90% if he does go.

Well that didn't take long.

Quote:
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- A nagging injury is preventing linebacker Shawne Merriman from getting off on the right foot with his new team, the Buffalo Bills.

Coach Chan Gailey announced Thursday that Merriman will not play against Detroit (2-6) this weekend, and is out indefinitely after aggravating an injury to his right Achilles tendon in his first practice a day earlier.

The injury occurred early into Merriman's first practice with the winless Bills (0-8), a week after he was claimed off waivers from San Diego. The injury is also to the same tendon that's been bothering him for much of the past year.
