Whitechapel w/ Brand of Sacrifice at the Palace on April 4th. This will be my 3rd time seeing Whitechapel and they are unbelievable, to score a 2 for 1 show with BoS made my day.
I like that Jimmy Kimmel's reaction to the criticism of (very few) people when he had Knocked Loose and Poppy perform is to simply bring Poppy on again. Also crazy how far she's come as an artist. Pretty good.

Initially she seemed like a bit of Youtube novelty act but to her credit she's become a legit music artist. I think she's great. I wish she would tour in Canada or the pacific NW. I'm starting to hit Spokane and Seattle annually to see artists that I want to see that for whatever reason aren't touring in Western Canada.
The new Propagandhi is incredibly impressive. They might be the only band out there to get more razor sharp with each release, their musicianship and Hannah's lyrics get more honed and they've reached the point where the recent albums are flawless in my opinion. With so much uninspiring, disappointing and boring music out there, words cannot convey how much I love this band.
PS. Take note at 3:20 for a nod to Bruce Cockburn's "Lovers in a Dangerous Time"

We need their brand more than ever in today's world. Love everything Propaghandi have done since Today's Empires.
They're Canadas Raised fist, our Bad Religion, our Parkway Drive. They speak reality.

the whole album is a loveletter to 70s/80s rock and metal. Maiden, Kiss, Scorpions, Journey, Def Leppard ... it's all there in some way.
I'm a bit sad that the occult factor has taken such a backseat ... I mean, this doesn't have a lot in common with "Opus Eponymous" or "Infestissumam" any more. But I can appreciate it for what it is at this point. I definitely enjoy this one more than "Impera", so there's that ... it's a fun record. "Lachryma" is an instant classic.

I can live with the popy rock stuff for the most part. I guess stuff like Year Zero may not return but I just wish it had a few songs like even Faith or Rats at least that have a bit more edge.
I've had both of these bands on my imaginery "to watch"-list for a while since they haven't released a full album yet, so I'll happily take a collaboration like this (minus the snakes).
both bands have dropped new songs this week. Golden age for female-fronted metal.
