So Leylah lost last night to Elena Rybakina in straight sets, but better news this morning from Basel as both Shapo and Felix won their respective matches.

Felix was going to play Ben Shelton on Friday, but Jaume Munar had different ideas as he upset the American in straight sets. Also, Shapo will take on Joao Fonseca on Friday, that could be fun.

Last night, Victoria Mboko played a very good match, but Elena Rybakina was just too good as Rybakina won 6-3 7-6. Just now, Felix lost the opening set to Jaume Munar and then decided to retire. He was seen stretching out his back so hopefully it's just precautionary and he will be able to play the Paris Masters.

And now a Shapo retirement seemingly out of nowhere - Hard to tell whether he was truly injured or just decided he was done with the match. I was hoping for Felix vs. Shapo in he semi-finals and instead we get Munar vs. Fonseca.

What's Felix's path to ATP finals now? Feels like that's just about it for runway?

It would certainly help if Musetti loses to Corentin Moutet later today in Vienna. If Felix is healthy enough to play the Paris Masters (ATP 1000 event) and makes a deep run and Musetti loses quite early, he can still catch the Italian. That said, Casper Ruud is also trying to make a late run.

Still a chance for Felix to make the Turin Finals, but he needs a great Paris tourney and likely some help from other guys losing.

Wow, Ruud makes it the 3rd straight retirement in Basel today and the fans in attendance are not happy and understandably so.

All 4 quarterfinals were retirements. Overloaded schedule.

He's not playing the Paris Masters so I think he's likely playing the ATP Finals. He moves to the beat of his own drum though.

Meanwhile, Joao Fonseca awaits the winner of ADF vs, Ugo Humbert in the Sunday final of the Swiss Indoors tourney as the young Brazilian defeated Jaume Munar in straight sets.

Zverev beats Musetti which does help Felix as he is 440 points behind the Italian with the Paris Masters coming up. You would think Felix would need at least a run to he quarter-finals (or better the semis) and an early loss by Musetti to catch him for 8th in he race.

ADF advances in Basel via ...wait for it... retirement over Ugo Humbert and will play Fonseca in the Sunday final.

He's actually had a pretty good year as he's at a career high ranking of 15.

Watching the Sinner - Zverev final from Vienna and we're currently in the 3rd set and Sinner is favoring his left leg (could be his hamstring). This sport at the highest level is brutal on the body, these guys aren't out there for a casual hit.

Meanwhile in Basel, Joao Fonseca takes the opening set 6-3 over ADF.

Stop me if you've heard this one before - Zverev way too passive serving at 5-5 in the 3rd set, gets broken, and then Sinner serves it out to love on one leg to take the Vienna title 3-6 6-3 7-5

Joao Fonseca wins the biggest title of his career taking the ATP 500 in Basel over ADF in straight sets. Fed has to be happy that the guy wearing On wins his hometown event.

2-for-2 for the Canadians thus far in Paris as both Gabriel and Felix won their opening round matches. Gabe took down Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets while Felix needed three sets to defeat Francisco Comesana (dropped the opening set in a tie-break).

Shapo is coming up shortly to face Joao Fonseca looking for revenge for his loss (some have suggested he rage quit his match) last week.
