Bouchard done like dinner. Katherine Sebov still alive. She plays Fruhvirtova on Thursday.

Yeah, she had a tough draw versus Greet Minnen who is significantly better than her current ranking. Carol Zhao won her 1st round qualifying match and joins Katherine in round 2 of qualifying.

So I just watched Bianca lose to Rebeka Masarova6-3 6-2 at Bad Homberg and the crazy thing is Bianca didn't play badly at all, Masarova was just en fuego. It makes me wonder why she isn't more highly ranked, that was top 10 level tennis from Rebeka.

Being highly ranked is about consistancy. Every pro player can play lights out top 10 tennis for a few games, a set, even a match. But not match after match, week after week.

Yeah, that's true plus Masarova has an ideal game for grass court tennis (big serve and forehand plus she likes to come to net).

Too bad. I was thinking grass may be a good surface for his game.

In other Wimbledon qualifying results, Katherine Sebov lost her match to Brenda Fruhvirtova, but Carol Zhao was victorious and is through to the final round of qualifying.

Brutal line call on set point against Leylah gives Blinkova the opening set. How do we not have some kind of Hawk-Eye technology in 2023? That said, the umpire has to step up and overrule such a bad call by the linesperson.
Edit: Blinkova wins 7-5 6-2 - On to Wimbledon for Leylah.

By the way, Carol Zhao takes on Coco Vandeweghe to make the Wimbledon main draw. Carol, we need to keep Wimbledon Coco free.
Edit: Aside from Cori (Coco) Gauff, she's a-ok in my book.

Masarova was playing some fine tennis against Emma Navarro just now when she had a nasty slip and fall on the grass. Forced to retire with a knee injury. Such a shame, she was playing so well, hopefully it's nothing too serious and she can still play Wimbledon.

Felix has been playing some matches this week at The Boodles exhibition event in Stoke, England. The results aren't really that important, but the good news is that in Felix's match today against ADF, he didn't have any KT tape on his knee (he was wearing some yesterday versus Bweh).
