Had a stupid gopher hanging around, digging under our shed, generally being a nuisance. Tried a trap, some poison munchies from Canuck Wheel, nothing was working. Gopher was not interested in the poison munchies in the slightest & the trap we got might have caught some ants and that's about it. Borrowed a trap off a farmer friend a week ago - little beggar managed to set it off once, without getting caught but he got himself caught at suppertime tonight, good and dead. Will have to see if that was the only one, but I think that it was. Just glad it's been vanquished to a ditch on the outskirts of town - enjoy the snack, coyotes.

My son defended his Master's degree dissertation today, that RMMH.
I just wish we were able to watch (live or at least streamed).

I’ll always laugh when people rearrange the letters in roadside signs to something crude, it’s childish and silly and I’m all for it.

I saw one a few weeks ago the was supposed to say Stampede Breakfast but instead read Tampon Breakfast.

Had a scare this week in regards to my 70 year old neighbor. She's been really sick all week and when I would look in from time to time there seemed to be no life. On top of that she wasn't answering any of my texts. I also got a message from her daughter in law today saying they hadn't heard from her all week. So I went to my other Neighbour and asked if he had seen her lately and he said no. In the end we didn't a safety check with the key she gave me and found out she was okay.

I gave her what for for scaring us and not answering texts or staying in contact.

over the weekend i had a chance to do a bunch of changes to the front end of the truck. i think the hardest part was "undoing" all the modifications i had done previously so i could do new ones! ha! ha!
i swapped out the front bow tie (previously it was chrome, the current bowtie is colour matched to the truck)
added some amber lights to the grille
new head lights/turn lights... and just like my new tail lights, these also have an animation at start up....

https://imgur.com/a/kXIj1a5

the best was when my son came outside after i had taken a bunch of stuff off the truck (the grille, bumper, previous head and turn lights) and he exclaims, "dad... what happened to your truck?!?!?!?!" ha! ha!

i LOVE the new look!!

Knee Deep bar and grill in High River has a Tuesday night $10 steak sandwich special. It has become very popular among town folk. Not sure how the owner of the bar can do it.

Their cost wouldn't be very high on a top sirloin with a piece of bread and a small handful of fries. It's a standard loss leader (in this case without the loss) deal to get people in and buying drinks (where the money is made) and hopefully coming back other nights.

Reminds me of the old Reef’n’Beef, with less smoke and sadness.

Never looked at it that way but you're right. I've been meaning to talk to owner about that and i suspect he would tell me the same thing as you.

Back in the day worked for this company where at least once a month the boss would take us to the Reef 'N Beef for lunch. Their burgers were always fresh ground beef and it had that old style atmosphere had a bit of a charm to it.

What really makes me happy today is dropping off a resignation letter for a job I no longer enjoyed.

A year ago I had this morbid fear of getting on stage and talking to a crowd of people. Even the thought of doing that would cause great anxiety.

Fast forward to this past winter. I used to joke to my friends that thrift stores were the best place to meet women. It always garnered hoots of laughter. So one February day i'm in Bibles for Missions in Okotoks and I got to talking to this red head. Just small talk and nothing serious. Anyway she found out that I lived in High River and made a suggestion that I join her and her husband for Karaoke on Friday nights at Sally's Bar. Not sure why but I thought why not take a chance and do something that scares you.

I show up and there's a table of 6-8 people who sing on a regular basis. I have trouble holding a note but they encouraged me to give it a shot and to not worry what people might think. It took awhile but I found the type of songs that would fit my voice. Of course there were a few bomb outs. The more comfortable I got with the mic and the crowd the less fear I had.

Now I go twice a week on Wednesday and Friday nights. Best part is I'm enjoying it. Add to that my brother drove up from his place in Minnesota for a visit 3 weeks ago and to hear me sing. He said he told Terry, the guy running it that he can't believe I would do this

For a couple of weeks someone has been parking in my dedicated spot at work. No biggie, there are lots of other spots. Some big bird crapped all over his car today.
