Yeah people seem weary of calling 911, it's the reason they stopped putting the non-emergency number on police cars 10 or so years ago, people kept calling it when they shouldn't. I think their hearts are in the right place, hearing stories of people calling 911 for dumb stuff and whatnot, but then they're scared that their thing is too minor. Don't worry, dispatch will prioritize it accordingly, you don't need to worry about doing that yourself
Remember; Emergency, injury or in progress crime, 911.
Think of non-emergency generally to report things after the fact, like theft, non-injury accidents, etc. Please don't call 311 when something is on fire, that's sadly common
It was something I wasn't prepared for, when working. That there is such a massive gulf in the definition of 'emergency' to some people. I've had people wait through the non-emerg queue to report an upside down car on fire...and I've had people call 911 because they dropped their bagel on the floor and staff wouldn't replace it.
The only time I get frustrated with callers is when they intentionally jump the non-emerg queue, knowing 911 will be answered more quickly, with a matter they know is a non-emerg matter as we have to deal with them, we can't tell them to hang up and call back on non-emerg. I hear "I called the non-emergency number but was on hold for 2 minutes, so I hung up and called 911 instead because I don't want to wait..."

It probably really depends on where you live and maybe time of day, but I have had to call the non emergency number more times than I would have liked. I have had to report multiple break-ins (vehicles and business - probably at least a dozen times), I called before to have a drunk removed from my business, I once called to report a wasted person disrupting traffic, and one time I was hiking and found random children's clothes in the bush (like a whole outfit, dress, shoes, and underwear - super creepy to find in the middle of nowhere). This was in both Ottawa and BC, and I can honestly say that I never had to wait on hold or wait long for them to send someone out. With the guy disrupting traffic, it was almost an immediate response, just as if 911 was called. Just my personal experience, not saying it doesn't happen to others.
The only thing that is kind of pain is having to look up the number. 911 is just so easy to remember.

I did not call in a fire. I clearly said there was no fire and nothing appeared burned, but some kids had told me there had been one earlier.
Okay, but what do you think their reaction should be? Who do you think comes when somebody calls and says a fire happened? And when they come, why would you think they wouldn't come lights and sirens? The only reasonable response to your call is to send the fire department and their only reasonable response would be to get there as fast as possible to make sure the fire is indeed out. You can't possibly expect them to take your word for it. Who are you and how do they know you know how to properly assess a fire to know it's properly extinguished?
I'm just saying if you call emergency services to report a fire (even one that is likely out based on your word that some kids told you it was out), it's wackadoodle of you to be surprised they sent the fire department. Literally the only outcome possible of your call was the fire department coming. It's kinda their job.
I expected them to come. I was surprised by the lights and sirens. It was a few years ago, so I don't remember exactly what I said, but there was never any evidence of a fire. I mainly reported it just in case something else happened.

Anyway, I'm done with this.
Sure, be done, so long as you know it's super ridiculous you thought the fire department showing up was strange following your call to report a fire lol.

Here's what he said "I expected them to come. I was surprised by the lights and sirens."
And here's what you responded with "so long as you know it's super ridiculous you thought the fire department showing up was strange"...it's not what he said at all.

Another POS pitbull owner.
Lets her dog off leash at an incredibly busy beach and then runs off after it kills another dog.
Lots of video of the lady & dog running away, hopefully she's caught quickly.

This makes me so angry. I assume the "lady" had some neck tattoos?
Edit: just saw the video, could that person walk any slower? That woman could have been caught easily
I lady was walking her 2 large dogs, the other way some lady with her little tiny dog in her hands. The little one barked at the 2 large dogs and those dogs just lost their ####, she had a lot of trouble controlling them.
Someone knows who she is and will report her. I am sure she will get caught. There is a good chance that it isn’t the first time her and her stupid dog pissed people off. I just hope they catch her before it happens again, or to a child.

So a dog bred to kill other dogs, killed another dog? Shocking.
Look at that dog. It's solid muscle. There's no way that woman could control it in rage mode.
I really can't believe we've gone this long with so many deaths attributed to pitbulls without the government even talking about banning the breed. Enough already, they serve no purpose other than to kill and stroke the egos of trailer trash
