I thought it was a missed opportunity to at least attempt to connect to earlier seasons. They could have had some of the androids in season one working on Data at the institute, unable to make progress. Then, Jordi shows up with the person info that allows Data to wake up again, while the androids join the crew for a bit. I'm sure they could have found ways to utilize them in the story. At least maybe not ignore absolutely everything from season one?

Wha....? No.

They should pray that nobody remembers Season 1 and then learn how to spell 'Geordi.'

FWIW they're not ignoring season 1 because they've talked about how it ended for Picard multiple times as down stream implications of that are part plot?

I'm sitting by my earlier assertion that this is essentially a fan fiction. The reunion in the ready room scene was eerily similar to the reunion panel I attended at calgary comic con years ago lol.

It's enjoyable but also a terrible hack job. It doesn't make sense with anything else in cannon. The nostalgia references are as subtle as a root canal. The characters are caricatures of themselves. But we are seeing them all together.

Its fanfiction.

one could argue that all Star Trek not created by Gene Roddenberry is fan fiction

Hell, especially later TNG and DS9 when you had folks like Rene Echverria and Ronald D. Moore as fans of TOS writing Trek.

Okay, but I think you know what they're getting at.

apparently, this week's episode will be wild, and the internet will be spoiler mines. So I fully expect something dumb to happen.

The Data/Lore struggle stuff came off a bit too Matrix-ey and trite for my liking. It is every internal struggle between good vs evil personality that has ever played out on TV and movie. They could have done something a little more unique. Maybe a Spot virus that Pacman’s up little Lores like kibble in a game.

I was hoping for it to be exactly like I described, kind of like that surreal scene from The Beach.

Well, I think we can say that we've reached full fan service after this week's episode. I'm not sure there's much left.

Wasn't a huge fan of the reveals, but yeah, if you're looking to get your nostalgia boner serviced...

More than a little predictable, but it had some good moments.

Well that was something.

I think I saw the same plot in an episode of Scooby-Doo back in the day.

Pretty sure I could have written this plot when I was 10. Complete with e-d rebuild. This episode was so cheesy I was actually laughing at my TV. Admiral Shelby. Lol

I don't care what any of you Debbie Downers say. That episode was pure joy.
