If you want to lose weight have you considered contracting a medium-severity illness?

I heard someone once say that it takes 60 days to change behaviour. That's a long time if you are doing something you don't enjoy along the way. Let's be honest, cutting out sugar/carbs combined with sweating your bag off at the gym isn't really fun. Once you get into the routine though it can become fun-ish. I look forward to my workout now. It really throws me off if I miss a scheduled workout day. I agree with everyone that has said diet is the key. You will see results if you cut back your calories, especially the carbs. Sucks but that's the reality.

I respectfully disagree. A bottle of wine is only ~700 calories. That is tremendous calorie-pleasure bang for your buck IMO.

Can the province fix the ruts on Deerfoot properly? It’s like the same ones that got filled in last year are back again with a vengeance around the Glenmore Tr exit.

While that’s true, alcohol has this other side effect called a hangover that makes it very unpleasant to use energy. It’s a double whammy in that one bottle of wine is ~1/3 of an average persons daily calories and it makes it harder to burn off said calories.
I’ve stayed off the booze since February, been in the gym 5 days a week since and eating a heavy protein low sugar low carb diet. I’m down over 25lbs of fat and probably put on 5-10lbs of muscle.
I could really go for a craft beer from 88 or cabin brewing though, damn.

Pro hockey players burn 6000 calories a day!

Definitely not impossible! If you work a desk job, a walking pad is a must. I'm also trying to drop another 10lb before summer so will be getting on mine as much as I can while I'm working. Easiest way to burn calories.
The problem with doing high intensity cardio with the goal of losing weight, is that it makes you really hungry. Low intensity is a better bet. After a beer league game where I probably burned 500 calories I am absolutely starving.

Also, I find fixating on weight can be a little discouraging. Weight isn't as important if you are toning/firming up. Being fit and 185lbs is probably better than a saggy 170lbs. A wise man once told me, "you gotta keep #### tight!". He was an idiot but I took his point.

Good for you! That is unreal in just a couple of months! I've tried really hard and gained about 10lbs of muscle since last August, but gaining from here is really hard. I haven't dropped 25lbs either!

Hadn't checked in a few days and felt bloated today and I was suddenly 110 lbs at the end of the night. Looking up diets, it mostoy seems scammy/sponsored BS. Anyone know a good diet to go on that's legit to just drop a few pounds over over a few weeks?

I am like UCB. I played hockey at was very light. 165 pounds in college. Could not gain the weight. After quitting the playing but keeping the eating I have had a lifetime battle of trying to get the weight off and keep it off. Frustrating as hell.

I’d be right there too but luckily I developed almost crippling IBS, so my diet is so completely basic that I can’t really eat more calories than I can burn with brisk walking and occasional hockey. No sauces or takeout = waaaaaaaay less calorie consumption in a day

Could always get your hands on a GLP-1/GIP, or a GLP-1/GIP/GCG and run that for 30-60 days. No judgement here, they work and people use them for a reason. Frankly, if our federal pharmacare program covered them, we could parlay that into a massive drop in healthcare costs in a matter of a couple years.

Maybe shop around, I just paid $262 for a month of ozempic.
Just to add a gear grinder, and part of this is on me for eating at my desk, but it never fails to GMG that people walk into my office at 12:15 or whatever when I am obviously having lunch and just proceed to have a long discussion with me. In 30 years I have never interrupted someone's lunch break, I don't understand why this is such a hard concept.

Yes and no. Admittedly, most of the people who end up going that route don't pay anywhere near that.

I’m lucky to have a good metabolism for my age, and most of the muscle I’ve gained is in my legs and back. Not really the glamour muscles lol but whatever it’s all good progress.
And I wouldn’t worry about the numbers, I’m sure you look and feel a lot better than you did last August, that’s what really matters. Have you tried changing your work out routine?
