I hated the Kadri deal the moment it was signed, but after 2 years, I’m actually pretty confident Kadri is going to be an effective NHLer at 37/38.
He’s really good.

Florida likely will be in the 20-30 range next year so it's not going to be an issue. I look forward to the day the conditions from deal that can be put to bed and hope that's the end of the complaining.
In the mean time it's good to see Kuzmenko looking confident again and playing better. Conroy comment about focusing on what he can do on after hours will hopefully let the Flames build up his value for next year. But I'm sure you'll find a correction to make...

I doubt that will happen based on precedent.

It depends. If Sutter comes back as coach, maybe they can make it to the second round.

The Kadri deal was based on Huberdeau being an effective player and the Flames continuing to be playoff worthy.
But Kadri has not been the problem, or at least this year he hasn't been. He's been quite good.

He has and I was pretty down on him at the end of last year. Though he's sometimes lately been falling into some old tunnel vision patterns, especially when Zary was out.
Thinking of the Monahan trade as "Monahan for cap room plus a first for a signed Kadri" makes that trade a little more palatable.

He now has more points in 26 games with the Flames than he had in 43 games with the Canucks.

Kadri would/will be the perfect add on for contenders as he ages. If he's ok with it, I can see him being a Hossa/Perry type guy that gets added and contributes to serious playoff runs.
I guess his salary might be too high for that though.

22 in 26 with the Flames.
A hat trick, three 2-goal games and putting up half a goal per game.
This has gone about as badly as it possibly could go for the Canucks.

Ironic that we replaced the least engaged player on the team with a player that is one of the most engaged players.
One was tossed aside while the other was highly coveted.

Lindholm isn't quite gambling, because truly there is a team that would offer him 5 years at $8M. He's not from there so no giving a discount. If I'm Vancouver I walk away. He didn't do much good for them, so 7x7 was pretty much his value taking into account his history.

Wadell had Lindholm in Carolina? My guess is he hooks back up with him and JG in CLB.

Would be interesting. Waddell wouldn't pay Lindholm (or Hanifin) and let him walk. Any leftover hard feelings I wonder?
