Zverev wins 6-2 6-4. Could have made it tougher on the German in set 2, but just couldn't get out of his own way.

When Djokovic retires, Wimbledon will be the most random slam, no one under the age of 30 is any good at grass tennis. i could see a player ranked in the 100s getting hot and winning it.

There were some random finalists in the 70's and 80's as well, Bjorn Borg faced Roscoe Tanner one year and I also remember a guy named Chris Lewis from New Zealand who somehow made the final in 1983 before losing to Johnny Mac in three sets.

I just don't know how you fail to recognize that with Zverev you simply need to get him uncomfortable with short balls and wide angles. Easier said than done, but I didn't notice any consistent effort to move the German around and force him off the baseline.
Shapo played right into the way Zverev wanted him to in this match.

but...short balls and wide angles don't provide as many opportunities to jump out of your shoes as you're attempting a giant backhand dtl winner

Roscoe Tanner got his revenge on Borg a few months later in NY. Borg never could get over the hump and win the US Open. Tanner was the first servebot. Gave the top player fits.

The unpredictability of grass court tennis continues today as Mannarino just beat Fritz and Korda defeated Tiafoe. Jannik Sinner came back from a set down to send Sonego packing.

I didn't see Rebecca's match (was following the live score) and I think she saved at least four match points before winning it in the third set tie-break to advance in Birmingham. Marino was down 3-5 in set 3 as well.

Carlitos is destroying Lehecka on the grass at Queen's Club and is laying down a marker that he's ready for Wimbledon.

Some pretty good matchups on tap for Queen's Club on Friday:
de Minaur vs. Mannarino
Musetti vs. Rune
Korda vs. Norrie
Dimitrov vs. Alcaraz

You've got to think it won't matter, anyway. If, or more likely when, he runs into Novak it's just going to be the same result.
I'd like to think Alcaraz will prepare better and approach the match differently but I just can't see a Djokovic loss.

I think the one difference might be that Alcaraz won't have as much time to get to the Djokovic shots on Centre Court like he does on Philippe Chartier and could save energy expended which should help alleviate the possibility of cramping. Three out of five sets is a different animal though and Novak looks like a man who has a calendar slam on his mind.

Please win Sebi. It's not that I don't like Norrie and more he's one of those guys that I would rather watch someone else play in his place. Also I kind of like Korda's game.

Rebecca Marino lost a tough three-setter earlier today, but she got into Birmingham as a LL and won two matches and raised her ranking several spots thus it was a good week.
In other news, Jannik Sinner was forced to retire in his match versus Bublik. Not sure exactly what the injury is, just hope it's nothing too serious. Sinner just has terrible luck as far as staying healthy is concerned, he's a heck of a player.

Maybe he needs to put on a little bit of muscle. Tennis players don't need to be buff but he's really on the skinny and wirey side and it just seems like whatever training he's doing isn't enough as it's always something with him.

Speaking of guys battling injuries, Karen Khachanov has pulled out of Wimbledon due to a stress fracture in his back.
Edit: Andy Murray with a few more guys pulling out could still get seeded for Wimby.
