Stephen Harper invested into Order of Canada

Quote:

Order of Canada ceremonies are not normally held in secret, but Rideau Hall and the Prime Minister's Office chose not to tell media travelling with the delegation about either Harper's event Sunday or a similar one Saturday that saw actress Sandra Oh and Olympic swimmer Mark Tewksbury invested into the Order. No explanation for the secrecy has yet been offered.

Yeah I don't see the big deal. The guy was a drama teacher after all so this type of stuff is right up his alley. It's not like he was photographed shirtless playing air guitar or anything.

The only legitimate complaint is that he is there as the head of state of the second most important commonwealth country for the Queen's funeral. The country is in a national period of mourning. Supermarket chains (Morrisons) turned down the volume of beeps and their music and announcement out of respect for the Queen.

This just comes across as disrespectful. I think had he not been there for a funeral, the response would be different.

It's fair to criticize the behaviour without thinking that's in an egregious sin worth of removal.

? You could argue India (because they have a population of a gazillion people) and maybe Australia. But who else would even rank close to Canada?

I was mostly scoffing because ranking your countries importance to the common wealth seems silly to me.

We should be looking to see how important the UK is to us, not how important we are to them.

Canadians choice for PM:

Trudeau 24%
Poilivere 21%
Singh 17%

Well done CPC, you really nailed that one.

Morrison's TURNED DOWN THE VOLUME OF THEIR BEEPS AND MUSIC while Justin Trudeau was singing Queen in the evening, the HORROR.

During his impromptu performance, Trudeau was overheard confessing to his mother that he committed a murder using a restricted firearm.

This wouldn’t be a legitimate complaint as he isn’t the head of state (hence the whole Commonwealth thing).

The federal government plans to drop the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for people who enter Canada by the end of September, the same day it ends random testing of arrivals and makes optional the ArriveCan app, The Globe and Mail has learned.

The changes, for arrivals at land, air and sea ports of entry, are planned for Sept. 30, but have yet to be finalized by cabinet, according to four sources The Globe is not naming because they are not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

The mask requirement for people on trains and planes will remain in place, at the direction of Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, according to two of the sources.
