That was one of the poorer challenges of the year. Not even close to incomplete.

going to be such an interesting QB market this offseason. Browns have to be looking for a successor to Baker at some point too ... he's your typical average QB who gets overpaid and sets the franchise back for years.

Browns roster is win now, lots of other teams are gonna be QB desperate, and this draft sucks for QBs. Browns should not give Baker an extension, but they might not have any better options for next year.

It’s a tough spot - Baker has a higher QB rating than Eli, and he won two Superbowls.

Can Mr. Rogers make it through the whole game with his covid foot?

Teddy Bridgewater has a higher career QB rating than John Elway, obviously the Broncos should extend him.

Baker just making awful throws today. The scary part is the Packers will likely come away with points before the half and they receive the ball first after half too. That will put Baker in throw only mode. I'd wager he has a good shot at 5 picks today.

Baker is what he is, a low end starter/high end backup. The Browns have built a strong roster, giving Baker the extension is how you go back to being the 2003-2017 Browns. I'd rather play Keenum for $5 million a season and try and upgrade other positions of need.

I think the Browns have already picked up the option on Mayfield for next year....at least i think someone said that on radio this week.

they have, he's in year 4 so they had to make that decision before this season. Like Senator said, they might have to ride it out with him next season because of a lack of options, but an extension beyond that would just be terrible business. He is what he is - an average QB at best who's the weak link in an offense that has a great running game and an awesome OL. You find an upgrade through a trade like the Rams did with Stafford, you have to do it.

Here is what i dont get about the Browns and it happens all the time..
They are averaging over 7 yds a carry....and they start throwing the ball all over the place with very mixed results at best. Today is just a big microcosm of what happens with the 3 INT's.
Weird decisions repeatedly.

What does the trade market look like for QB's?
I guess the Deshaun Watson saga is ongoing and who knows if that dirtbag will even play football again. So maybe there is a trade partner there. Or how about Matt Ryan out of Atlanta?

Personally I would have cut Baker loose rather than pay him $18 million next season. I think guys like Mariota and Bridgewater can play as well or better for less money. It's not like the Browns haven't surrounded him by talent as he's just not very good. A decent game manager is probably good enough for them but Baker's not even that.

You couldn't even straight cut him because I believe his entire salary is guaranteed so it'd be all dead cap next year. Gotta ride it out with him next year and just hope you can design the offense to protect him as much as possible, lots of quick one read passes and RPOs.

Well yeah they made the decision when they gave him the 5th year. I wouldn't have. I just think he holds the Browns back.

I know Adams has one of the GOATS throwing him the ball, but he's an outstanding receiver. Great releases, and seems to catch everything.

Every team in the league would have given Baker that fifth year option. You're paying $35-40 million a year for midlevel QB play now, Baker at under $20 million is a no brainer with how his first three years went. Good news for the Browns is all they did was give him the fifth year, which now keeps their options open. If they extended him before the year they'd be totally ####ed now. Baker is even still tradeable at his fifth year rate for someone who wants a looksy before deciding on a long term deal.
