Every October I go on a month-long horror movie marathon.
Just rewatched Army of Darkness once again, and I'm convinced it's the perfect film. The comedy, the cinematography, the practical special effects... just perfect.

Excited for Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness?
The Brothers Grimsby and Movie 43 are probably the worst mainstream comedies this century. But I won’t pretend they both make me laugh. The elephant sequence in Grimsby especially. It’s just so monumentally messed up in every way.
Doesn't Nightbreed take place in Calgary and some of it was also shot in Calgary? And I think there is a scene where people are watching the Flames on TV with Ed Whalen doing the broadcast.
Just watched Operation Finale. It's about the Jews discovering that Adolf Eichmann, who oversaw the deportation system that sent the Jews to the camps, was living in Argentina under an assumed name, and plotted to get him back to Israel for trial.
His trial was eventually televised globally. Starred Ben Kingsley as Eichmann, as well as Oscar Isaacs. Fantastic movie; almost no action if that's what you're looking for, but a great drama piece.

I was feeling nostalgic the other day and watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. That show was a staple for me growing up, I would watch it every day. Watching the movie as an adult is such a trip. It is both so, so bad and so hilariously good at the same time.

That movie got worn out it was watched so often when my boys were young. Absolutely hilarious campy fun.

The Red Letter Media review of Movie 43 is one of my favorite Half in the Bag's.

Even as a huge Robert Rodriguez fan I almost forget sometimes how bat crap bananas awesome Once Upon a Time in Mexico is. It’s everything that’s right and wrong about his films all wrapped into one.

Re-watched some old movies. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which was fricking awesome, way better than I remember it. Would recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it, or if you only saw it when it was new. Somewhat surprisingly I feel the movie has aged very well. It now kind of doubles as a nostalgia trip
Also re-watched Hot Fuzz. Still such a classic.

I remember that mostly during that film I was thinking how much I liked El Mariachi when it was new, and how boring the newer versions feel in comparison.
I watched Arrival again. I'm staying with family and they have a crazy movie theatre room with a killer sound system and I basically am doing a Villeneuve marathon.
My God is that an amazing piece of filmmaking. Worth watching every year or two, for sure.
