Yeah, I think the seating bowl will be virtually identical to the 2021 design, but the concourses will be configured differently with the extra room available.

I just hope they don't do that thing where they make the home team walk past a lounge or public area on their way to the ice, like they do in Edmonton. I have seen other arenas do the same thing. It just seems awkward and weird to me, especially after a bad game.

The Saddledome has a hyperboloid roof structure. Not all the buildings on that list look like the dome, but it was the first list I could find that had multiple buildings like it. you have to scan through to see the ones like the dome.
1952
1954
1962
1971
1983(Saddledome)
2011
there might be others on the list that was just a quick scan, there is for sure other buildings in the world like it. I believe at one time I heard around 20. SOme others have already been listed.

Isn't that one of the big reasons for the new arena. To reduce the lineups and congestion.
They should also put in a few more toilets.

Hopefully, the company learned from their Edmonton mistakes.

Like everything that I read and hear about the Intuit arena for the Clippers.
Designed around expanding and maximizing the fan and in game experience.

I like Ford Hall, it's a nice roomy place to meet folks before you go in. But if you're in the upper bowl and have to take those escalators up, wooof.
I really, really, dig the bar seating at the top of the lower bowl though. My buddy's company has seasons there and I've been a few times and awesome.

Doesn't hurt that the market in Los Angeles is almost 20 times the size of the Calgary market (18.64M in the metro area). That venue will host a sold out event every night of the year, so the economics of it aren't even remotely comparable.

It's crazy that it was built at the same time as T-Mobil and is so much worse.

It will have that. It was called the Founders Club on the 2021 plans.

I never said the Saddledome was the first building to have a roof like that. You assumed that was what I meant. I meant that the designers were trying to be creative with things like the luxury suites and the layout of the concourses, and because they made the whole shebang out of poured concrete, most of their mistakes were not fixable.
As they say, don't make assumptions: it makes an Ass out of U and Mption. Which is a damn silly thing to say, but there you are.

Scandinavium in Gothenburg is another. It's hosted some NHL Global Series games in recent years. That's likely the 1971 one you mention there.

T-Mobile was built in Las Vegas, which exists solely to entertain people. They have experts who know how to do these things.
Rogers Place was built in Edmonton, which exists primarily to annoy Calgarians. They have experts who know how to make things smelly.

I think the problem with that happening in Edmonton was that they likely miscalculated the amount of toilets required due to the surrounding area and the arena itself also resembling toilets.

Lol, I was just going to say, I didn't realize the Saddledome was overbooked 365 days a year with events to help Murray out.

A lot of Edmontonians wear Depends, which probably factored into their calculations.
