Flies in the face of what Friedman is saying though.

lol Hanifin getting a worse return than Jeannot will make me sad

Also, who cares what Hanifin wants? As a rental, he is worth a first +.
If he wants Tampa, they should probably want something good and then negotiate an extension. That's typically how these things work.

I don’t get why Frank seemingly has an axe to grind with the flames especially considering how much air time the team media gives him. For as long as I can remember he paints bleak outlooks for much of the flames pending decisions and he’s been pounding the drum on a lacklustre return for Hanifin for some time. I hope we get a solid return just to see him tip toe around why.

I think staggering the trades would be a good strategy for Conroy. Allow him to focus more and start taking about guys outside the 3 once he’s down to 1 asset to trade.

Funny part is Tampa is supposedly the team that can't afford to extend him and Friedman said would be looking at him as a rental.
The rumors have been that it's Boston and Florida that he'd be willing to re-sign with.

Also a first for tanev would piss him off...

With Dallas' apparent interest in Tanev, anyone care to blue-sky a scenario in which we could get Stankoven? Dallas will have approx. $1.6M in cap space at the deadline so we would need to take something off their roster.
Tanev (50% retained = $2.25M)
Coleman ($4.9M x 4 seasons)
for
Stankoven
Kyrou
2024 1st
2025 2nd
Faksa ($3.25M x 2 years)
Suter ($3.65M x 2 years)
They get two playoff warriors in Tanev and Coleman to push them over the line, and remove some dead weight from their roster.
Tanev = Kyrou & 2nd
Coleman = Stankoven
dead weight for 1.5 seasons at a cost of $7M = 1st

Seravelli's takes on the Flames players trade values are so consistently negative (in comparison to what others say) that it does start to feel like there's an ulterior motivation there...or something.

As a rental he's still going to return a 1st + a side piece, at a minimum.
I would not consider that a bleak return.

Worth noting Frank has aligned himself with Oilers media for his Daily Faceoff /Nation Network shows. Probably gets a heaping helping of negative Flames takes drilled into him.

And now I respect him even less lol, basically a McDrai fanboy so now this all makes so much more sense. I won’t take anything FS says about the flames with much more than a grain of salt.

I think getting Stankoven is a dream scenario that doesn't have much chance of happening.
I would target Bischel who might be in reach (but might not be).

A 2027 1st if its Tampa with likely no roster player coming back and a farm system depleted to pick from. It's bleak compared to what could be elsewhere and in terms of speeding up a rebuild

Doubt Stankoven will be traded.
They may be open to trading Bourque but Stankoven is essentially going to take Pavelski's spot in the lineup when he retires in 2047. Even with the dumps involved, I really can't see Dallas doing this.

The last time we loaded the Stars up for the deadline, they won the cup. Just remind them as much!

Send them Tanev retained to the max for Bourque and cut out the rest.
You retain 50% and pay a team (a 4th or whatever) to retain an additional 50%.
Bourque is the real deal and likely better than anyone we could get in the late first round.

I don't see any likely scenario in which Dallas trades Stankoven.
He's a key to their future.

Flames still scouting the Bruins. Think that makes it 3 games in a row now.
