Here’s an idea. Just phone me and I’ll answer if I’m available.
They are terrified of speaking on the phone and are hoping this buys them a bit more time.

You absolutely should not have a cart in the showroom area where there are arrows, but somehow I can see Sliver doing it

I get a lot of phone calls most days so I actually prefer when people do this instead of calling while I’m on the other line or when I’m in a meeting as I find it to be less of an interruption. What grinds my gears is when people call, don’t leave a voicemail and are surprised when I don’t call them back. If it’s urgent leave a message or send me a text, otherwise I’m assuming you either pocket dialed me or it wasn’t that important.

Also “ can I call you “ is a less direct way of saying “when are you free for a call “

If the person isn’t avail immediately they usually will reply “ in 10” , etc

The best method for dealing with these idiots is you say yes and then when they call, which will be 50% of the time, is to not answer.

Doesn't GMG per se, but this seems like the closest thread for this: meeting up with a married buddy for dinner when he's picking the place, who clearly only ever goes out with his S.O. It's always some pricey, date night style place. C'mon, man..

Meeting up with my friend later for a bite, he says how bout Porch? Cool on a date, but it's 100% Sex & the City vibes in there, the seats are freakin swings lol. It's where I went with my current S.O. on our first date. Why would you want to go there with me, are you trying to get in my pants?

Like the freaking pub is right next door, lots of deals on Sunday, and we can watch sports. Stop being weird and choose a normal place for dudes. This is what happens when a man doesn't have enough guy time in his life..

I get that. I go out for dinner with my wife frequently so I like going to the neighbourhood pub sometimes.

Its a nice change.

Oh I'm good with a restaurant...just not one where my seat is a swing, and it specializes in $22 bellinis haha. It's around the corner from my place, I just know the vibe in there. Trying to keep costs down too, bit on the date night pricy side.

I've never been, I've never heard of it, but I'm going to guess thats just not my vibe.

Although, despite not drinking bellinis anyways, $22 is a bit steep for no chair and...if people are drinking and swinging that place sounds like its ankle deep in vomit.

Exactly, you have to think about the upchuckery logistics too...do I have to do everything around here now??

Maybe thats part of the logistics? The swings keep your feet off the vomit-ridden ground?

And the other half of the restaurant have to sit on Yoga-balls and roll around in it?

Then every hour or so the swing-folk and yoga-people have to fight each other for table supremacy?

It all sounds very 'Thunderdome-y' very 'Mad Max.'

Interesting concept though. Rarely does an establishment incorporate elements of dystopian survival into drinks and a meal. Its a strong flex.

So basically the Problem Child 2, fair ride scene: restaurant edition. It's a lot to ponder.

And I don't even mean to bag on it as it's actually kind of a cool spot. Just not something I'd suggest to my buddy on a lazy Sunday..

This is such a weird take. Dude, it's a restaurant. If you wanna go to a pub, say that. Or offer to pick the place. I've been to Porch with a buddy for a drink, with dates, and random happy hour things with my friends. If you don't want to sit on the swinging chairs, don't sit on the swinging chairs.

Like, what is even a 'normal place for [straight] dudes'? Just be glad he didn't take you to the Texas Lounge or The Coup, now that would definitely be a tell.

Also, everything is goddamned $22 for a decent drink. Don't even look at what a glass of a good cab sauv. at a steakhouse will run you now.

There is zero need in 2025 to leave a voice message. Never leave a voicemail. They're the worst.

I disagree. Many people I know refuse to answer a call if they don’t recognize the number. Want a call back? Leave a message.

I'll thank this because, personally, I dont leave voicemails. I hate that. Because if I'm calling a friend or family, they know my number and they'll call me back when its convenient.

No problem.

From a Business perspective? Thats a whole different animal. If you call me and hang up without leaving a message? I'm not calling you back, even if the call shows a number. So many are 'Private Callers.'

You call my business? Name, number, brief message.

And dont go 'motor-mouth' on the return phone number so I can't make it out. But if you don't leave an intelligible message, I'm not calling you back.

And the other thing is...people who leave a message but assume that I know who this is and dont leave return callback information.

"Wait for the beep, you know what to do!"

No. They do not. Name. Number. Brief message. I or my staff will get back to you as soon as we can.
