I think had Gaudreau stayed he would be doing much better here. As would Huberdeau in Florida. Colombus is chaos right now.

I just looked at Columbas's stats... Man... Gaudreau has 45 in 64 and is their leading point getter. That team can just not put the puck in the net can they.

Well the point is that if Gaudreau signs that deal I doubt we are also signing Huberdeau to the same deal.

I don't want to sue you, you can hate any player you want. I don't why you would keep watching him though.

I actually think we're a more competitive team if we had JG at 10.5x8. We've desperately needed someone to drive offence. He also worked alot better with our previous 1C lindholm and I think he would be great with Sharky.

Not sure this would be the best though since we're maybe not a legitimate contender and this would of made us avoid rebuilding.

Also it's impossible to say what the rest of the team would look like. Good chance Kadri, Huberdeau and Weegar aren't here.
Maybe we would have Necas + 1st from Carolina instead and some UFA DMan.

Edit:
Here's potentially what our roster could of looked like if we had JG, traded Chucky to Carolina for the rumored necas+1st, still made the Toffoli and Monahan trades then signed Kadri. We would have about ~3 million in cap. This actually would of been great. We would be younger but still looking competitive. The D-core is abit rocky though.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Necas
Zary - Kadri - Sharky
Mang - Backlund - Coleman
Pelletier - Rooney - Pospisil
Hunt Duehr

Hanifin - Andresson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Pacha
Hanley

Markstrom
Vladar

I already like Miromanov more than I ever liked Hanifin in six seasons

Big, can skate, dynamic.

He's like a rover out there but doesn't seem like a defensive liability (at least yet)

Logging 20+ minutes per night already.

The pro scouts and Conroy appear to have absolutely nailed the Toffoli/Lindholm/Hanifin trades.

I mean the players we got are arguably better, and also younger and cheaper plus the Flames also got a mittful of futures to go with it.

Sharangovich > Toffoli
Kuzmenko = or > Lindholm (so far)
Miromanov = Hanifin (so far, it's pretty darn close)

Plus:

1st 2024
1st 2026
3rd 2023 (Suniev)
3rd 2024 (could be a 2nd)
4th 2024 (could become a 3rd)
Brzustewicz
Jurmo

That's nuts

Conroy seems to know how to use the scouts and he actually wants to give these young players opportunities.Just thinking about how Tre used to talk about letting young players cook in the A. Conroy on the other hand wants to see what they have got. Some of these guys we are bringing in have limited NHL experience but.they are playing really well.

Further to that, he actually gives them a long string of games to see what they can do. Shwindt has gotten into quite a few games, Coronato spent the better part of the season in the A. It seemed like under Tre even if a young guy got a cup of coffee it was very limited, and often only for meaningless games at the end of the season, so it was impossible for them to get comfortable, and to see what they are capable of.

this was likely the coaches fault and when Tre realized the kids weren't going to play then he figured why bother keeping them up.

That has to be really discouraging for a young player. Got to like how the Flames are benching guys or sending them down if they're not showing enough. If guys are injured they are getting opportunities to come back in.

Are your seats at the dome obstructed in a way where you can only see the attacking net?

To be fair I've watched pretty close the last 2 games, a few mistakes on coverage but his gap control has been good as has his outlets, did you forget Hanifin would sometimes go weeks with brutal coverage and brain farts?

And from what I see, so far he's a way better PP option

There is a lot to like with Miromanov's game. He needs to work on the defensive side, and will likely never be as good as Hanifin in that area, but there are aspects to his game that can be better.

Good chance of being more entertaining, at least.

Noah Hanifin has been a 2-3 defenseman for about four seasons.

Don't think I'm out of line suggesting liking a 26 year old newcomer with 5 games played is a stretch.

I’m old enough that Michel Petit has permanently made me wary of small sample sizes. He was a poor man’s Denis Potvin those first few games.

Liking someone more doesn't necessarily mean they're objectively better!

But man ... Miromanov's early returns have been something. Consistently some of the best results on the team while playing big minutes. Takes a ton of shots. Hasn't given up much at all. He's a project, but IMO already a really good find for this management group.
