Cheapest I could find was around 2k in a handful of the upper end sections. That is pretty pricey for the cheapest option.

20% price increases when they're the worst team in recent history. Their fans should actually be kinda grateful they suck, because if they were actually good those increases probably touch 40%.

Oooh boy, I'm sure some flames season tickets holders can't wait to shell out 25% more for tickets so the bathroom lineups are shorter and they can get around the dodge ram displays in the concourse a bit easier.
Hey, by the time the new arena is built in Calgary the jumbo tron will only be 20 years old.

It is expected to pay a little more in a new arena. I would still be okay with it. I've had flames tickets for 15 years so a couple years into the new arena might be the right time to move on once the new arena smell has worn off.

But they'll also just miraculously have much more money to spend in the area at restaurants and pubs. Why don't you think of the economy?

You're sounding pretty childish here.
Also, what is your point with the jumbotron? They upgraded it and they are deploying it for its useful life.
King's only point on a new arena was that, if there is one, not to worry because the jumbotron could be moved.
The fact that there isn't a new arena doesn't change the fact that the jumbotron is still being used.

I dunno, I find it pretty funny that they were thinking about the ability to move the Jumbotron and then seemingly proceeded to do nothing for 8 years until they slammed together a proposal to try and ride the high of a playoff series win into a massive boon from the taxpayers.

So, let's assume we replace McMahon with another open air stadium. It seems like a lot of really nice U.S. college stadiums ~30,000 seats are built between 70-90 million. Even with the increased dollar, can't we just get a nice one for 150,000,000?

I assume you mean millions not thousands? You can't get a crappy 1 bedroom condo in Calgary for 150k.

They had a plan for a stand alone arena that was turfed once they bought the Stampeders. Blame the CFL for no new arena!

And ironically had they tried to get public money back when the new jumbotron was put in they probably would have gotten it. Timing is everything, this project is a much easier sell in 2008 than it is now.

My point with the jumbotron is 8 years ago when it was unveiled they were obviously looking at building a new arena. Hell, I'm pretty sure they were talking about it before the new jumbo tron.
That the jumbo tron could complete it's useful lifecycle before a new arena opens is a) hilarious, and b) absurd.
Taken by itself it's a funny little memory. Stacked onto this horribly executed bid for public money to combine two separate arenas into one and I think it's worth posting about and chiding.
At this point all you can do is laugh at how mismanaged this whole thing has been. I thought Edwards moving to London to avoid paying into public coffers while asking for money from said coffers for his private business was the icing on the cake, but good ol' Bill Bumface one-upped him by reminding us all who has been in charge of the project the whole time.

Flash you probably have the highest post count in this thread. It's obvious you are against anything and everything the Flames will propose. We get that you think Ken King and the Flames have botched CalgaryNEXT and we get that you don't want any tax money going into it. You have made this clear over, and over, and over. The last person I saw repeat themselves over and over this much actually had dementia for crying out loud.

$5000 doesn't seem too bad for center ice, row 1 of the 200 sections. I wonder how those seats compare against upper rows of the 200s or the first row in the nose bleeds at the Dome?

Why is that SN section on the end, so expensive. 10K+ for seats high on the ends. All you can eat Old Dutch chips up there, or something?

There's a private lounge there as well as tables between the seats and a few other things - they've taken what were normally some of the less desirable seats in an arena and made them more of a premium experience.
"The Sportsnet Club is built for hockey fans. A two-level club that features hockey live on the ice, as well as coverage from around the NHL on the many screens in the Club. Located behind the goal just above the lower bowl, the Sportsnet Club features all-inclusive food with a rotating menu of casual favourites. Socializing within the club is enhanced by two full-service bars."

If season ticket prices rise to where they are in Edmonton then I don't want a new arena. I'm assuming that the 200 mil the Flames are putting up will be paid for by borrowing against future revenues generated by a 30% price increase.
I love the saddledome!

look at hamilton to see roughly what 150 million gets you for a stadium. If CSEC want's to incorporate a stadium into the fieldhouse they should match that or close to that out of pocket. Sponsorship and ticket charges from games/ facility users and occasional shows/concerts could contribute another portion.
