I call my chiropractor by his first name. Not a doctor, I won’t refer to him as such.

I’ve never met one of those. I’ve dealt with numerous folks with PhDs but every one has said to use his or her first name.

Related, are dentists true doctors?

I can't be the only one that checks the "dr" prefix on random forms, right? Not on anything official but I always laugh that it's even an option, so have some Sliver type fun with it

I call my dentist Dr and it’s mostly out of courtesy I suppose. What do you say when you call and make an appointment for example?

Think it varies province to province, but a PHD does not grant you a Dr. prefix in Quebec

Since I feel dentistry should be included in medical healthcare I don't oppose calling a dentist Dr.

It is appropriate to Call Optometrists and Dentists DR within the the office. That is when we can use the term. Outside though it should be via first name.

Personally, I let me patients decide if they want to call me Doctor or by my first name. I am pretty informal.

I preferred the military titles, so went with Rear Admiral.

*Shudder*

The only person who would consider that in any way 'okay' I can already envision the Ultimate Karen conversation.
