Meh, that doesn’t bother me in the least. That’s how politics is, and it doesn’t irk me. I do think it’s hilarious to see comments about how he’s conceited or things like that, because every politician is. I mean we just had a decade of Nenshi who was hit with that blast for at least 9/10 years.
And, to be clear, I don’t really care if people like him or not. I’m not friends with him because of his popularity or lack thereof. I’m hardly the most popular person, so if that was a test I’d have a pretty lonely existence!

But you’re replying to and criticizing everyone that has shared their experience with him, so it doesn’t sound exactly like you don’t care.

Meh, I’ve glossed over a pile here. I definitely haven’t replied to everyone, and haven’t even really defended Hehr. I definitely haven’t criticized anyone though, and I’m not sure where you’re getting that?

The vitriol about Hehr entering this is rather hilarious.

You considered running for office a few years ago.

Maybe I'm crazy, but perhaps sex pests shouldn't hold office

You and I are the exceptions to that! And maybe Nenshi.

but shouldn't you care a bit about WHY people don't like him?
they way he deals with people and how he treats them is pretty horrible and does reflect on him as a person. Most people dislike him for more than being a conceited politician filled with hot air.

I could see caring about that if it was something major. But the truth is, I've known him for a long time and before he was in the public eye. I think that if you think every word of what you see in the media is true, then yeah, you would think that the guy is a pretty bad person. I'm not getting into each incident, and people can take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I don't necessarily believe all of these things as presented. I think that politicians and people in the public eye face an intense amount of scrutiny (in general) and mostly I'm just glad that it's not me!

How do we get Davison to bow out and put his support behind Gondek?

That's valid and if your personal insight and experience over a long term with him while he's not in public engagement/fundraising/campaigning mode then I consider that valuable insight for all of us here. This is what we need to know more about politicians, not just what we see on the surface.

What's the CP summary on Farkas and why he is full of transgressions? Sean Chu is super obvious just from his manipulative tweets but it seems that Farkas has a negative image here.
I don't follow City Council and haven't kept up over the years.

My impression is he is a guy with no vision for the city. Pretty much votes no Or against everything under the guise of keeping spending under control. But seems to have no alternatives to anything, no vision. Just plain no seems to be the solution to everything.

He’s a lowest common denominator politician.
In a blizzard he sees a picture of a plowing a bike lane and says this is why your street isn’t plowed.
Or talks about how our in camera sessions are out of control using statistics that aren’t comparing things equally.
The goal of every message seems to create anger at something.

Farkas Is Bob Rumson (Dreyfuss' character) from The American President.
We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections.

The lies alone are enough to ensure I'll never vote for Farkas (e.g. the faked council vote results, the claim about being fired from the police commission). He's a pure populist with no ethics.

Agreed. My impression of him is that he knows there’s a segment of the population that wants simply to pay lower taxes so that’s the position he tries to take regardless of the circumstance (claiming he’s merely “listening to his constituents”). If it was so easy to slash taxes and spending without reducing services that citizens need and expect, someone smarter than him would have done so already.
My opinion is that in order to be a good mayor, you need to have a vision for building the city and to be able to get stuff done. I don’t think Farkas has really done anything (other than vote against a bunch of things), especially when it comes to rebuilding the downtown amidst the O+G recession.
The worst is when he paints himself as the poor victim... not only to garner sympathy, but to show he’s still fighting for the taxpayer. Hey, when the vote is 14-1 and you’re constantly the “one”, it’s not because you’re right and everyone else is wrong.
PS in 2018 YYCCC approved 14 new communities in the suburbs. According to this article, the vote was 14-2 with Nesnhi and Farrell against, and Jones absent: https://www.thestar.com/amp/calgary/...an-growth.html Im not sure if that’s what bizaro was asking but if so, Farkas voted yes.
