Even her message of New Years hope can't help but taking shots at the feds like toddlers. Maybe leave that out and mention the plight of Jasper? Pathetic leadership.

Which province is better to make minimum wage in right now? BC and Ontario in the big cities cost of living kills you. I don’t know enough about Quebec or the Maritimes. Saskatchewan probably wins $15 minimum wage and lower cost of living.

A person in my family’s rent in Saskatoon is $950/mth.

That’ll help a lower wage make things work easier.

People don’t want to move to towns but that’s where things are affordable.

Smaller towns are tougher to find work though. The small cities are probably best.

All of them. We have the lowest minimum wage in the country GGG.

What does that have to do with the value you are receiving for your labour?

The comment made was that the UCP are ensuring that we remain a great province to work in. So even by your metric of strictly comparing it to cost of living they have failed at that because in 2019 we had the highest minimum wage AND a lower cost of living compared to other provinces.

While there are definitely great jobs here, when you compare what lower paid workers receive here and the protections they have with the other provinces there isn’t a whole lot “great” to brag about regarding working in Alberta these days.

Agreed, that part of the sentence is completely unnecessary.

I was watching the year end interview with the Democratic Governor in AZ who now is facing a Republican House and Senate and she said that there would be times to work with them and times to stand up to them, whatever was in the best interests of the state.

Thank you! How do you think society functions the best? When people who do have the means to better themselves, better themselves.

Minimum wage will always suffer from wage-push inflation over the long term it won't be able to ever sustain itself as a living wage.

if you are an able adult making minimum wage, that should be enough to go out and better yourself. Going to be a lot of trade jobs in demand if not now, very soon.

Upwards of $20/hour. I think a living wage in Alberta is $24. Is that really shocking in 2025? I think I was making that over twenty years ago in the Oil Patch.

There is nothing embarrassing about an honest days work. Do you look down on the Wendy's workers when you get your 3rd double baconator of the day?

People use minimum wage jobs to further themselves and if they can do that while making closer to a living wage I'm all for that. Having a stagnant minimum wage since.. 2017? Is pretty gross. The fear mongering that happened back then was funny, no business closed due to it as far I can tell.

There is also people in our society who can't further themselves, for some they push themselves to get a high school education, to function day-to-day. A minimum wage that followed closer to inflation would assure they're less reliant on goverment programs to make ends meet.

Here we have politicians whining about the increasing cost of bacon and how it makes things worse for sad, pathetic people who can’t afford it because they suck rather than celebrating the motivating force inflation should be.
