The only day I've ever hit over 50k steps (I think it was close to 55k) was when I ran a marathon in Vegas, and the race was in the evening.

Some old fk asked my wife 'what was so interesting on her phone?' one time at swim lessons. I guess he thought she should be watching them flap around in the pool? Meanwhile, she had left work early while all her colleagues were still working (that never feels good), picked the kids up, got them ready and into the pool, then had to continue working from her phone. And this POS had the audacity to insinuate she wasn't a good enough mom because she wasn't mindlessly watching the kids splash around.

Your post reminded me of how upset she was when she came home.

My wife had a good excuse for not watching the kids through the glass from one story above the pool in this scenario, but even so, watching little kids do banal things isn't everyone's cup of tea...especially when you live it 24/7 with them. I always viewed those activities as a bought-and-paid-for break for myself.

I'm always the one taking my daughters to classes, be it swimming, taekwondo, gymnastics, etc. When they first start a class I always watch, and I enjoy seeing them try something new. But there's only so many times you can watch the same exercises before you start to tune out. And my eldest daughter's gymnastics class is an hour and 45 minutes long, and most of that is performing the same drills over and over to build up their muscle memory. I don't think it makes me a bad parent to use that time to catch up on some reading
