That was my fear as well. I definitely think back then either of those two shouldn't have been dealt, but getting a franchise catcher is extraordinarily rare in baseball. Kirk had the right mental approach to the game and had little holes aside from his weight. He got fatter this year and that simply isn't professional (yeah, I said it). Jansen probably needs more looks to get into the flow of things. Thankfully he's not injured. But he reminds me a lot like Teoscar in that he's streaky (but difference being he swings early and ends up looking on the third strike). Moreno has looked pretty appealing for the future though. I wasn't happy about the trade at the time because of the value of defence the Jays placed, as well as the unproven theory that because of his LHB he'd break out with the banning of the shift. It's not a knock on him because I do like his approach, but it's a hope the Jays placed on a silly theory that the shift ban would make that much a difference. I think they oversold in that deal.

It's fairly amusing; last inning with Yankees pitching and Blue Jays getting some hits and runs, the two ladies working the TD section behind home plate were hanging out in front of the door of the area they prepare food. Not working at all, I assume drinks and food are done served, but they are hanging right in the line of sight of the Yanks pitcher.
Top of the 9th with Blue Jays pitching they again are doing no work but sitting in behind the area.

It's probably nothing but I choose to believe he's cheating just so I feel better if he has huge games against the Jays.

Ooooh I love that about Judge. Some juicy gos for sure. Agreed that it likely nothing. But could you imagine?!?
Edit. Too bad Jomboy is a Yanks fan. He was the one who did the deep dive into the Trashtro's. Would love some zealous Jays fan with the tech skills to try and come up with something.

It is a weird spot and angle in the outfield for a camera in a major league park.

The chirping explanation is odd. They are used to hearing chirping and I’m pretty sure that they are more than capable of tuning it out.

If Alek Manoah keeps going the way he's going, he may end up back in AAA working his troubles out. He's just lucky the Jays don't have anyone that can realistically replace him right now or he might already be down there. He is legit terrible now.

Somehow I buy it though. Judge is a pretty good representative of the game. Not that he wouldn't take signals, but I don't think they'd do something like that at that stage of the game.

RE: Manoah, before any drastic measures like sending him down or skipping a start, I really think they need to get Jansen behind the plate. I just don't think Kirk calls a good game and a vet presence like Jansen with a different perspective could help Manoah turn it around.

The guy plays 81 games a season in the Bronx and is distracted by the chirping from his own bench? That combined with his weird pre-AB signalling, I don’t buy his explanation.

So more info apparently. Jake Bauers did the same thing but he hits from the other side of the plate. Jays have asked MLB to look into Yankees coaches staying outside of their usual 1/3b areas. Seems rather likely now they’re relaying signals from the base coaches.

They should have just beaned Judge in a 7-0 game. I'm predicting there will be a brawl by the time this series is over.

I think until you see it in more at bats it's tough to say what's going on. Did he do it in any of his prior at-bats last night?
Seems unlikely that you would start cheating in a 6-0 game in the 8th inning.

I just seen the twitter craziness on the Germain cheating and I hope the book is thrown at them. I rescind what I said yesterday about giving Judge a pass. Someone needs a bean after getting caught cheating.

Gausman isn't the kind of guy to bean someone but I hope when he's in his last inning he does it. Sometimes they just need some excitement to wake them up.
