I want to see an NHL cribs segment just to watch his 3-pointer attempt bounce off the roof and hit a spectator in the face.

Is girlfriend going to allow him to hang coloured paintings/portraits or must everything be kept greyscale to match the place?

Does Connor know when you play b-ball sometimes you have to put an arc on the ball? Why is the ceiling so low? It’s just.....strange. All of it.

Saw an intereview with him and he talked about building the house and a guess it was quite a difficult process and he wasn't happy with the finished product.

I guess thats what you get when you hire Edmonton contractors and Architects and date a girl thats from Deadmonton...a whole bunch of (expensive) no good.

His girlfriend was given control on the building process and the inside interior.

Quote:
“I loved the process because I’m involved in it [through my work] , but I think it’s definitely more difficult than people think. There’s so much that goes into it and so many details. It’s long, it sometimes can be frustrating. It’s an interesting process.”

One process Kyle certainly had fun with was outfitting the basement of the house. At the top and bottom of the dark, tiled staircase, urban paintings with bright splashes of colour by a New York artist named Flore hang on the walls. Downstairs, there are three large-scale Ralph Ueltzhoeffer portraits of Andy Warhol, Jimi Hendrix and Jack Nicholson, each composed of thousands of tiny words. The iconic faces gaze upon a cozy lounge and a frosted glass orb Apparatus Studio chandelier that dangles over the pool table, setting a playful tone to an otherwise moody, masculine room. “I wanted it to feel like a speakeasy separated from the other rooms of the house in style, because it should have its own feel,” explains Kyle. “I find, generally, that basements are so boring, and no one utilizes them well.”

Something out of a horror movie

Quote:
The first overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, McDavid signed an eight-year, $100 million contract extension with the Oilers in 2017, so he is not hurting for cash.

Which means that if he wanted to, he could certainly afford to hire an interior decorator for his 8,000-square-foot mansion in Edmonton.

Instead, McDavid let 23-year old interior designer Lauren Kyle deck the place out because, well, she’s his longtime girlfriend.

She made some, how shall I put this… interesting design choices.
Some great tweets in that article.

The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

It's nice to know that even as the world has gone to hell around us this year, we can still always count on Edmonton being No Good.

The McMansion is the story we needed during these slow off season E=NG months.

I’m wondering, why would a 23 year old build a mansion in Edmonton? Rent a penthouse and get the hell out of town when your contract is up like a sane person would do. I don’t get it. Does McDavid have a dream of appearing on Cribs? Was this an expensive make work project for the aspiring designer gf? Does he actually want to spend his life in a horror house in dumpsville?

I think you nailed it right there.

There's a link to her (or her company's) Instagram in one of the stories that have been posted in this thread. She has a link to her website on her Instagram page and under the "Projects" tab, there is this house and what appear to be some 3D renderings of other work.

Its odd.

Because normally one would assume that it would appreciate in value over time, but in the current economic environment that is quite the assumption.

Maybe hes banking on some sucker eventually buying his McMansion on his name alone?

Poor McDavid. Dating a 23 year old interior designer. All that money and he basically has to hire an inexperienced, sub-par designer for his mega mansion. How much experience could she have? 2 years? She’s probably never even come close to handling a project like this. In any case, it is fitting that their star players home looks like the physical manifestation of despair.

I'm a big fan of black so I don't mind some of the rooms but it is a bit much. I especially don't understand it's use in the basketball court. Not exactly great advertisement for his girlfriend but at 23 years old she still has a lot to learn. Even in its monochrome state I still think it's very nice.

Look out the windows in that monstrosity...the neighbour’s house is RIGHT THERE.

You got to feel sorry for those people. The endless parade of ######bags that will visit and own that thing beside you. Ouch.

I will say that it’s heartening to see that even the best player in the world, with $100 million in his pocket, is still having his life run by his girlfriend. Rich people, they’re just like us...
