Is Picard season 3 worth watching season 2 and finishing off the series?
You could probably just skip season 2. All you really need to know is Picard is synth (android) now and because the space dementia from All Good Things alt future was killing him now in the prime timeline

Pretty much this.
Other than that...I dont think anything that happened in seasons 1 or 2 was important or matters.
But dont deny yourself! Really get your hands into the muck of Trek!
There was time travel! And alternate realities!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
For what it's worth I haven't seen Kurtzman stumping for 'Star Trek Legacy' but Terry Matalas who is the PIC showrunner for the first half of S2 and all of S3
From all reports Season 3's ratings are way up and Kurtzman's constant failures on his other series may mean Paramount execs finally realize he is cancer. All the fans are hoping he is sidelined from Star Trek.
Terry has done nothing but impress me with his encyclopedic knowledge of Star Trek and his dedication to its legacy. Kurtzman and Abrahms came in not as Trekkies (Abrahms even admitted he never watched Trek, he was a Star Wars fan) and were the typical producers who wanted to do their own spin on things while not respecting or even understanding the original properties in the first place.
That this is one of his favorite things of all time and it also happens to be one of my favorite things of all time has completely cemented him as showrunner in my book.

I'm sorry, what failures? I don't love Disco, but without it being successful we likely don't get any of the other shows I dig more. With the exception of the back half of Season 2 of Disco, when the two showrunners were let go mid production, he hasn't show run any of the Trek series. He's been more of the Rick Berman super producer role, with Akiva Goldsman being the role Brannan Braga moved into during Voyager/Ent.
Again, not everything in Modern Trek has really been to my tastes, but I don't know you can realistically call him a cancer or talk about constant failures? That all reads to be like reading Fandom Menace fake news.
(for what it's worth I think Matalas is fine but I think the way he does fan service is low hanging fruit, and what makes it feel more 'fan fic-y, but that's just me)

they also wrote off the new non legacy character I was attached to from the first two seasons.
If you skip season 2 of picard, uou will miss potentially the worst trek episode of all time (disco inclus) where said character sings.
I would be ok with a matalas helmed show. Would still prefer totally new cast and future setting with no ties, but as long as kurtzman is totally shut out I will be happy.

For what it's worth I liked Jurati enough, and like, my lizard brain thought she severed in that dress

Uh, I assumed he meant Rios and not Jurati. At least I hope he didn't mean Jurati.
In the last episode when Krinn came on the screen I thought "He sounds a lot like Sergeant Toye from Band of Brothers, but that can't be him. That was 20 years ago and that guy looks 35". Maybe it was the Vulcan makeup, but damn Kirk Acevedo looks spry for a 51 year old

His failures outside of Star Trek including Clarice and the Man Who Fell to Earth which were all badly reviewed and cancelled quicky. There are rumors he is inching himself into the doghouse at CBS/Paramount.
"Clarice's other co-creator is Alex Kurtzman, a practiced IP hack known for Transformers, various Star Treks, a failed Mummy, and the worst Spider-Man. That's a lot of money made off other people's originality. Can't we institute some kind of limit on this stuff, like maybe a person can only work in four pre-existing universes per decade? His participation makes Clarice feel even more like a dastardly act of franchise capitalism."
I wish I had access to the editing room so I could recut the show. So much of this isn't on the actors or the camera work. There is probably a gold mine of footage and such that isn't in because of bad pacing and editing. This whole thing is so rushed. If the plot ends up going the way it seems it will, this thing could of been a sweet four-hour movie that had some room to breathe. Two two-hour halves would of been great.
So the legacy character was "Tuvok". The biggest giveaway is he had some really rapid aging for a Vulcan. Or was he already super old in Voyager given that he served on the Excelsior with Captain Sulu?
I heard Ep7 is the weakest of the series from those who have seen all 10 episodes. They recommended watching 7 and 8 together.

Fair enough. I just don't think you can say any of the star trek stuff is a failure, success wise. Because they could have just done Disco and canned that like Clarice. But we're certainly seeing a retraction in the streaming business and I do think Disco ending is liekly a part of that retraction.

I thought Ep7 was the best one so far.
Spoiler!
About the same age as Spock in TNG, certainly by the time he ends up in JJ-verse. Dude only gets laid once every seven years.
