Given the fact that it isn't salt water, they really should just need to dry the tunnels out and fix anything damaged by debris. I am thinking at worst case, ctrains are down for 4-5 days after the flooding stops.

Keep in mind that I am pretty much just guessing.

NYC was able to restore subway service in a matter of days after Hurricane Sandy, and their tunnels were flooded with salt water. They likely had more in the way of resources, but I don't think it will take CTransit that long to get things running barebones.

I imagine the City Hall C-train tunnel will be cleared in this fashion on Monday

I don't know what people are thinking, especially the ones going out and hoarding food. I took a bunch of empty bottles that I had not taken for recycling yet and filled them with tap water just in case we got to a "boil water" situation.

Standard public panic I guess.

Went to Safeway to rent a movie, the lineup in Chestermere was more than I've ever seen. Felt like a fool lining up for gas too (my car really was almost empty).

Hotels have rack rates which by law have to be posted in the rooms.
If you look, they are almost always 2 or 3 times higher then what you paid. But whatever reason for them, it then allows them to charge up to that rate during times like this or Stampede etc. So some faux outrage around bumping the price up 80$ is just internet drama.

That said, 20$ for ice bags is pure scum.

It looks like they're reopening the 14th St bridge.

Never mind, they just took down some of the tape.

interview just shown with nenshi and harper, river levels have crested but NOT dropped yet, stay the hell out of downtown despite what you may be hearing, there is still no power on downtown and bridge will not be re-opening tonight by the sounds of it, there is still potential for more surges and anything could happen

So if there's a boil water advisory, wouldn't that just mean you need to boil the water?

And if you boil it long enough, the water turns into beer.

Of course, but there are people who drink bottled water without there being a warning so I can see why there's people stock piling water. Personally I love tap water, but paying 20 cents for a bottle beats boiling tap water.
