Hate hearing this years draft isn't very deep.
I sure hope the Flames can unearth some gems, they need to know what they are doing. If they load up on 2024 picks they need to make those picks count or they'll continue to spin their tires. Don't pass on Stankoven's to take Stromgren's please. Don't pass on Hutson's to take Ronni's either.

You think there's any chance we can get picks in 2025?

I wouldn’t blame Conroy if he were to use this thinking as leverage to squeeze more assets out of potential trade partners, but as a draft-watcher myself, my opinion is that the first round is good from top to bottom. Not mind-blowing, but good. I think the second round is also ok, compared to past drafts. I think the rest of the draft lacks depth though.
I don’t mind getting late-firsts in this draft, we will end up with a good player(s).

2013 was supposed to be really deep...
2013 first round draft picks that were a part of this organization:
#5 - Lindholm
#6 - Monahan
#16 - Zadorov
#17 - Lazar
#19 - Rychel
#22 - Poirier
#24 - Shinkaruk
#28 - Klimchuk
Anyway, things are far from certain one way or another, but that was a lot of 1st rounders lol.

Depends, is that draft projected to be better or worse than 2024?

They say this every year until the day of the draft. Like someone else pointed out, players carry a premium at the deadline, picks carry a premium at the draft. So get as many picks as you can and then we have tons of currency for potential trades later as well

As weak as a draft may be, there are always gems, and the Flames seem to have pretty good scouting.
2012, which had a lot of busts, still saw Rielly, Hampus Lindholm Trouba, Forsberg, Wilson, Hertl, Vasilevsky, and Skjei, and some useful guys as well
2008 had a big dropoff after the top 4, but you coudl still get Karlsson, Eberle, Carlson, and Myers who is at least a regular

85% of this community is great but the 15% that continue to make the uncalled for comments towards those that contribute all “Insiderrrr” information consistently are a real drag. I personally am reconsidering sharing any information going forward not because I’m afraid to be wrong but it takes an effort by those with information to come here and share it far less than it is for you to come and consume it.
I’ve seen every single one of us be questioned, targeted ect by a consistent group of the community. The only people you’re impacting is your peers on this forum. I can share the information with my friends, family ect and enjoy the same level of excitement as I’m sure many of you get reading it.
I don’t need a thank you thread or thanks on my post to keep me motivated to contribute, I do it because I was know how passionate this sites fanbase are about the Calgary Flames and it brings me joy to share information happening behind the scene because I too was once in the dark waiting for the media heads to grace us with information.
Enjoy your weekend.

I don't understand why people have issues with anybody posting inside scoops. If you don't like it, don't come to Trade Rumors and Speculation Thread. Wait for the Trade Thread. Let the rest of us enjoy the information that is trickling through these posters. It is not like Conroy is going to come posting on this forum.

It's appreciated for sure. It's up to the individual to put as much or as little stock into it as they see fit. Personally, with this info from you and rasta backing up that there's something going down, along with organizational moves (markstrom not playing) I think we can agree that a serious negotiation is in play and that something will likely come of it.

I believe in Sec and Diss and I appreciate every little tidbit of information they give. With the stadium series (and the complexity of the trade with retention) there is bound to be delays in figuring it all out.

Pretty much the only reason I come on here is to view the inside information. It’s a nice break from people arguing about hypothetical trades and line combinations.
