Oh wait, that's functionally a buckler for combat purposes. Very intriguing.

Dont let that very reasonable price stop you because there is an even more beautiful show stopping reference available for less than 50$!

My next watch is going to be the Tudor Pelagos LHD. I wear my watch on my right wrist. My youngest is a lefty and also wears his watch on his right side so my thoughts are to give it to him eventually.

Thanks the Trident is the watch i would be purchasing

Site looks broken, domain shows as a possible malicious / scam site.

I assume it's this one then.
https://twobrokewatchsnobs.com/invic...ow-case-25552/
I remember inexplicably being inundated with advertising for this thing (or something Invicta rainbow version around pride.
On a side note, cheap watch bracelets/straps are obvious. Gotta get nicer ones for the Orient swaps.
Hollow/light, squeaky, links randomly get stuck... Seeing it in person with it on makes me realize it might look good with a two tone jubilee.

Yeah, good bracelets are probably the most notable difference as you step up the watch ladder, as all the little details just add up to a much more comfortable experience.
As much as I like brands like Seiko from a value proposition, I'm just not a big fan of their bracelets. The difference between them and something like an Omega or Rolex is pretty big when you wear your watch all day.

We were on vacation a couple months ago and as we came up to reception I noticed the watch this guy was wearing. He had on an unmistakable square Monaco Gulf in turquoise with matching turquoise and orange nato strap. I made a comment to him about it and we struck up a conversation as he was excited someone was an F1 and a watch fan. I really like the colours and look of both the square and round face of those watches but I’m far too cheap to justify buying one.
A few weeks after I come across something similar that I could justify getting to fulfill my itch. Cadola is a fancy Italian name for what is for sure a Chinese watch manufacturer, but I’m not about brand name, more just what I like the look of.

I'm liking the look of the jubilee with my Orient sun and moon. Gotta find a good quality bracelet, maybe even two tone to make it even better.
This cheap one works fine, but it's kinda scratchy and clicky. It's not ultra bad, but it's something I do need to take off for a break every few hours.
EDIT: Not going to return it. I'm not that type of person. Plus it's good to have one on hand to show friends first hand the diff between the levels of quality for bracelets. ie: I spent the money so I could help you save yours, sorta thing.

I fixated on the Tissot, and still haven’t purchased it (will make my purchase when I get a new role, hopefully soon and put the disaster behind me). But as some have pointed out here and elsewhere, that Tissot has plastic parts, and long term may not last, what brand in the approximate price range has parts for automatics that are constructed for long term longevity? Apologies in advance if it’s already been covered here.

I put a Nato strap on my Orient for this reason. The hollow link made the pins bend and fall off. The Nato strap has been bulletproof.

The reality is that sub $1000 watches are on the lower end of the "nice watch" spectrum, so getting a new, quality Swiss-made, mechanical watch at that price point means that compromises have to be made by the manufacturer somewhere. I know a grand is nothing to sneeze at, but chances are you're either going to have to compromise on something with the watch (movement, materials, place of manufacture, bracelet quality, brand, new vs. used)... or up your budget to the next tier.
Seiko has scale on its side, and is the king of bang-for-your-buck, but they too have to compromise to hit a price point. They all do at this level.

Thanks. Totally appropriate response. What would be the next tier? Christopher Ward? If so would it be a more reliable watch?

In a stroke of very fortunate luck, my Omega PO got condensation under the crystal during a swim while in Vancouver last week...hotel was 1 block from a (and the closest to Calgary) Omega service center.
