His jersey would have been pretty badass if he played for the Flames as well.
I think it should be a rule that players with last names of team relevance has to play for them.
Fred Stamps another great example.
Rusty Kuntz first base coach of the Royals having to play for the Marlins an even better one.

Makes me chuckle that a Fowler plays for the Ducks. Also Dwight King in LA.

Since this thread is about speculation...
Is there a chance Columbus moves on for Johannsen? This is a player that had a nasty contract negotiation last go around wanting a long term deal and being forced into a bridge. Then Columbus trades for another RFA on Saad and gives him the big money and term right away. Now with Torts on board benching him for conditioning. Columbus is a train wreck of a team this year and could get a ton of assets for him. 6'3 220lb perfect western conference center.
I do think it would cost the Flames Bennett+ which is not something I would be overly stoked on. Treliving I am sure is in on everything and rumors he wants to make a massive trade were floated out there.
Again just some speculation to see what you all think of the player and the possibility Columbus trades him

I would be pretty surprised if Columbus was willing to move Johansen unless he was forcing a trade. If he was, the price would be enormous.

This trade would be less ridiculous than the Stammer trade. i wouldn't do it but not farfetched. Johannsen is in my hockey pool this year and i think he is super underrated. Johannsen is much better now. But Bennet i think will be better. Not many people in this league i would trade Bennet for.

IMO if there is one off the radar guy that gets traded this year its Backlund. But they will only do it if Bennet makes some big steps before the deadline. They would trade him (plus mid pick) for a young top 6 winger.

Red flag for Johansen is that this would be the 2nd year in a row he showed up out of shape. His career may start to mirror Mike Richards a bit (hopefully without the off ice problems)
That being said a lot of teams are going to backup the truck for him

And the market wouldn't support another rebuild. They need even modest success at this point. Treading water and squeaking into the playoffs would be better than a rebuild after so little playoffs there

His shape issues may be an organizational failing as well. I'd still take a gamble on him. Johansen (6'3, 220), Monahan (6'3, 200), Jankowski (6'3, 200) and Arnold (6'0, 200) as your centers long term? Oh my!!!

Nope in this day and age of the NHL, showing up out of shape to training camp is all on the player.

Especially considering he's been punished for it in the past. It's not like they've just let it go

^ Yeah if he was 18 or 19 years old at his first or 2nd training camp, that might be excusable. But we are talking about a player who has been to 6 NHL camps.

The Blues just got another long term blow to their lineup with Schwartz going down for at least 3 months while they already have Stasnty out with a broken foot and Berglund gone for half the year with a shoulder injury.
I can see one of the many forwards we have going their way at some point.
