As someone who once worked at a hotel front desk, yes they do jack up the prices when occupancy goes up. Doesn't matter the reason. I'll bet most places in town have raised the prices.
Exactly - maybe because I know her but she wouldn't make something like this up just for attention.
Or because they know it's illegal and can get a business in some serious trouble? The Queensland pictures, for instance, was from a couple of ex-employee's fired recently from the store...
If you have a grudge against a business, it's a great way to quickly turn an emotional tide against them. Look at how people are starting to crucify Travellodge over a single unverified thing...
After Medicine Hat does the water affect Saskatoon or does it level off down the line before getting there. That's where it looks like it's headed viewing Google maps.

It does get to Saskatoon, but if you look at the map you see Lake Diefenbaker between the Sask Border and Saskatoon. This is a very large reservoir, one of whose purposes is to moderate just such an incident as this. That's not to say there will be no issues downstream, but not the kind of issues Medicine Hat will have.

Long time listener, first time flooder. What are the chances that some or all of the core will be open Monday?
My biggest concern is hoe the water will impact my Shaw connection down there. I lost connection about 930 this morning so I didn't even get to see if /when the power went out.

I was wondering the same thing too. Another thing I'm wondering about, is that because some of the ctrain lines (tunnels) are completely submerged, are they going to have to do a huge amount of repair work after the water recedes & how long would that take?

I'm on my phone so I can't look it up at the moment, but if Saskatoon had flooding in 95, they'll probably get it again. Maybe someone from the area can chime in.
The Arena in MH may soon be in the same state as the dome. The Arena, Athletic Field, and the police station are directly next to the river, along with city hall, the courthouses, and public library. There is a bit of a hill, but who knows if that will be enough.
