But those renderings are just over the top. I just don’t think that kind of thing is necessary because there are other obvious concerns.

One thing that should make you feel a lot better is that you'll be dead long before this gets built out. When your kids are getting old and want to downsize to a place without stairs they may be able to buy a brand new unit with a nice view in one of the later towers.

Seriously though, they'll build a tower. If it sells well, they'll build another one. If things start to become non-functional and unpleasant and too congested then sales will slow and they won't build any more .

113k for a city councillor and bellyaching from the public every time you get a 2% increase? Meh. Lots of jobs you could do that pay more than that with less demands and stress.

Their pay raises are a drop of mosquito piss in the ocean for all it matters relative to municipal budget and taxes; it's noise. Whether I think our mayor and most of our councillors are rudderless dipsh-ts who make inane and counter-productive decisions doesn't impact that they face the same rising CoL as the rest of us do and should see some increase as the rest of us should (since, y'know, you can't fire them). If you didn't, that's a problem that should be taken up with your employer, not with council.

They eliminated the exit/entrance to Glenmore Landing in that rendering so I'm guessing they're planning on-street parking instead. No wonder it looks congested.

Did the city quietly rebrand the +15 system to Skywalk at some point recently? I noticed last week that a bunch of the +15 signs have a slightly new look and say +15 Skywalk. I don't recall ever seeing Skywalk before and there are some old signs up still that are just +15.

When did this happen? Am I just not observant enough to have noticed this before?

I guess that's the problem - anyone really competent would be taking a big pay cut for a thankless job, but if you're an incompetent grifter with no qualifications it is way better than your other prospects. So guess who we end up with running for office most of the time?
