I don't understand how the term "Freedom of Speech" has made it into this thread

I haven't seen ANYONE saying Theo shouldn't be LEGALLY allowed to speak his mind.

Aside from Canadians always confusing our 'free speech' with Americans, given that no one is arguing that Theo should be legally forced to shut up, the rebuttal freedom of speech has no place in the discussion.

I think many of you still don't understand the concept of freedom of speech and how it relates to private organizations vs the government.

This thread desperately needs a pivot, so...

What do we think Brad does next here?

Milano?
A flyer on Phil the Thrill?
Bratt?
Donato?
Some kind of magician's touch to bring in Barzal?
An absolutely bonkers move to bring in Kane for a season?

I think everything is on hold until we know if Hub is signing long term, being traded or..... ....... starting the season as a Flame with his current contract in place. Need to know what his contract looks like for 2022-2023 2023-2024 no?

Tre needs to figure out what to do with Mangiapane and Kylington. I think we are overloaded on defense right now and we should use the defensive assets to get another top 6 forward.

I'm still on the fence about Mangiapane and whether or not he can repeat or continuously improve his play. Perhaps he just needs better line mates and he might do tremendously well if he is with Huberdeau and Lindholm but I think having Toffoli on the 2nd line is going to hurt us more.

He makes 5.9M for 2022-2023

That’s not going to change

Resign Mangiapane, resign Kylington

At this point, they are likely low on cap space.

Next step, will they trade Lucic?

If yes, they acquire another winger.... if no they are set for the season

I don’t know why I’m starting to hope Phil Kessel signs a 1 year with the Flames but I am lol I know it likely won’t happen but I think he could pot 20 or so on this roster and he’s had some good playoff performances in his time. He’s also the current iron man of the league so I get all the humour around his physicality but he’s long since dispelled those observations and has proven he can handle a full schedule.

Ha ha I mean sorry 2023-2024 - unless we are going for 1 year FA's, which is possible, its hard to go for Kadri or others without knowing Hubs future is what I meant. Even swapping out defense for a high price forward is tough without knowing what Hub's next contract is

Very much agree.
Id love Konecny here. Id think one of our starting D (Hanifin, Kylington) would get that done.

Hanifin for Konecny would be fantastic. I would be more confident with our line up this year than last year's going into the playoffs.

I would think flyers would add a pick, 2nd or 3rd?

Those who drag politics into everything are lame...

Kind of nice just to talk about hockey right?

I'd love Konecny as a target. Gives you some options.

For Hanifin yes prob need to add a bit more on flyers side.

Seems like under Sutter, Konecny could be a decent Tkachuk replacement. Feels like this player is not reaching potential and under the right circumstances could excel. He's only 25.

Philly wants to move Provorov, and if they had Hanafin in the fold they could do a money in/money out trade for a player that could help them. Hanafin for Konecny and Florida's 2024 1st would be fair, considering Konecny's struggles the past two years. And by struggles, I mean that he mirrored the mess that was the Flyer's, dropping all of their value.

I really think that Mackey deserves time on the bottom pairing alongside Zadorov. He has proven all that he can with the AHL club.

If we could move hanifin for konecney and a 1st that would be amazing! Hanifin is great but dealing a d is pretty much the only way to get a top 6 forward. And adding a 1st would be huge

The problem with Kessel is that streak. You need him to sign off on the fact he may be scratched if he isn't cutting it

Hanifin for Mercer is really enticing and makes a lot of sense for both sides.

Mercer could be really good on RW this year and shift over to replace Monahan next year.

Could take back Graves or Sieganthaler or Tatar to make salaries work...Flames might need to include Valikamki

Plans change. Maybe they felt doing it on a weekday was better than the weekend.

Thinking it has something to do with an extension or a trade is reading too much into it.
