Try as they may, it shall never happen.
That city should, and will, be mocked in perpetuity for that debacle.

Yep they are really bad but we have got a lot of snow and sustained cold periods this winter as it came in November with a bang and is leaving with a bang in late February/March as we are going to enter April with more snow on the ground than I can remember in recent memory so it's likely going to get a lot worse once things start to warm up. I have seen some pretty nasty ones on my commute and I just try and make mental notes to avoid them.

On the snow removal front, I was amazed to drive through my neighborhood last night at about 10:00 and the city had a decent sized operation going to remove snow from the street by the schools. Grader, loader, dump trucks - they have the whole street cleaned down from curb to curb including all the windrows along the sides. The only thing I can think of is parents complained that the built up snow made drop-off hell even more hellish.

why is it when the weather channel says <1 cm of snow it's actually 5 cm of snow and when they say 5 cm of snow it's actually 15?

All I can get
|
Anyone else with the problem of spring melt from the road flooding the sidewalk?
I've been throwing down buckets of "pickle mix" road gravel (available from the nearby fire station) and trying to scoop up the ice as it forms...
Even chiseled out a route for the water to get to the storm drain.
I put in a 311 ticket to see if it's something the City can plow out, but I'm not hopeful...

I have the same problem. Grade on my front lawn rises about three feet from the sidewalk at about a 30° slope, so there's a pretty steep little hill upon which most of the snow from my shovelling ends up. The depth of the snow and ice on the street is higher than my sidewalk too, so there really isn't anywhere for the water to go as the snow melts.
I salt the #### out of it and hope for the best.

I've been dealing with that for a month now (minus the cold snap). Need to go out every day about 1/2hr before sunset with a shop broom and push all the water off and then after sunset check for bad patches to toss some salt on. Getting pretty damn sick of it to be honest.
Finished digging a drainage trench today so hopefully it gets better.

Is there a storm drain anywhere in all of that? If so then the city will indeed come and try to get that draining again
