A quarter of the NFL is looking for a new HC. Good luck with that.

Don't see any of those coaches outside of maybe Lewis getting another shot a head coach for a long time. Guys like Caldwell, Fox, Pagano, and JDR are going to have to go back to coordinating and Joseph I'm not even sure is a good coordinator let alone head coach.

Ha ha ha ha ha. You get the feeling this was done only because Elway didn't want the egg on his face of admitting Joseph was a bad hire. I can't see Joseph working out as to me he looks like a guy in over his head.

How deadly will the Niners be next year? All that Cap space, a decent draft position, and a stud QB that has not lost in the regular season.

Eh I don’t mind. If they get him a real QB and Oline help I trust that he can be the “leader of men” coach they brought him in to be. Elway letting VJ go would only serve to scapegoat VJ for Elway’s shortcomings as a GM.

Beware the late season saviour. To get to 8-8 would be a massive leap for them. If you believe that the Rams are legit and Seattle is still Seattle then SF has a tough road to hoe to get to the playoffs.

Agreed...Garoppolo has looked great....against some weak opponents sans the Jags who may not be all "that" either. That being said I do think he is a tremendous pick up by the niners and a guy they can certainly build around.
They are certainly on the right track compared to several other struggling teams and I think John Lynch is a very smart guy who will get them to contender status sooner rather than later.

They'll still have an easier schedule out of their division with their 6-10 record. Is Garapolo signed already?

Home: Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks.
Away: Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He isnt signed but that is really just a formality as even if they dont agree, they can franchise him.

Thank god someone put a bullet in the Hawks season. They weren't a great team this year and then after losing three of their four best defensive players you knew this season was over, especially with that offense.
Will be an interesting offseason. I love Pete Carroll but I'm wondering if he's starting to lose the room.

They need to replace Bevell and Cable. Fix their OLine. And find a back that can stay healthy and actually run the ball.

O-line forsure, and I think those guys will get replaced but more troubling is the fact this was the most penalized team in the league. Carroll is known as a player's coach, maybe they don't respect him anymore. I hate those made up narratives but man, just a total lack of discipline. Their right tackle was the most penalized player in the league. Pathetic stuff.

Generally if a team spikes from one year to the next they are in tough to maintain their win total from the spike season let alone improve it. A " Spike" season is defined as a team winning 4 or more games above the previous seasons win total. The "Spike" teams this year were
AFC
Jacksonville
Los Angeles Chargers
NFC
Philadelphia
Minnesota
New Orleans
Carolina
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco
So as you can see the NFC had a lot of these "Spike" teams. 5 of the teams in the playoffs are spike teams. So it's still going to be a pretty good feat for San Francisco to win 8 games next year. Titan fans should really be quite pleased that their team did win 9 games and make the playoffs this year because they bucked the Spike trend. Other Spike teams from last year like Miami, Oakland, Dallas, New York Giants, all regressed this season. So of 5 teams...only one matched the previous win total and none improved.
Sort of shows how unusual this season was where none of the Packers, Red Skins, Giants, 49'ers, or Cowboys made the playoffs. I think I saw something saying this was the first time since 1963 that this happened. Yet teams like Buffalo, Tennessee, Jacksonville, and the Rams ended long droughts.
New England Pittsburgh, and Kansas City are the only teams to make the post season in 3 straight seasons with the Packers and Seahawks streaks ending.

McCarthy cleaning house on the defensive side of the ball.
Dom Capers along with the linebacker and d-line coaches all fired today.
I wonder if John Fox might not be a target for D co-ordinator.

A spike in donations to the Andy and Jordan Dalton Foundation came from the most unlikely source on Monday morning.
Fans in Buffalo were understandably thrilled, and they wanted to let Dalton know it. While the Bills organization promised to send the Bengals Buffalo wings, the fans decided to donate to Dalton's cause.
"I think I'm the hottest guy in Buffalo right now," Dalton joked to the media on Monday. "According to my Twitter, I think everybody's loving us right now. Obviously that's a crazy fan base, and they're all pretty excited."
Dalton pulled out his phone to check the numbers on donations to his foundation, noting that most of them were in $17 increments. He thought about it for a moment, then he realized why.
The $17 dollars represent the 17 seasons between playoff berths for the Bills.
Dalton and his wife Jordan formed the foundation after he was drafted by the Bengals in 2011. The foundation "provides support, resources, opportunities and life-changing experiences to seriously ill and physically challenged children and their families."

Big changes in Packerland.

Ted Thompson will not return as the GM of the Green Bay Packers but will remain with the team, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

It's a little bit more complicated than that. You also want to look at things like point differential, Pythagorean win expectation, strength of victory, record in one-score games, and fumbles recovered. The former 3 categories will generally tell you how good a team was, while the latter 2 will tell you how lucky they were. I expected the Eagles to be about a 10 or 11 win team this year because they were very unlucky in one-score games last year and the PWE showed that they would likely improve.
Likewise, I would expect them to regress next year, not only because of the Wentz injury but also because they were luckier in one-score games this year (1st game against the Giants being a prime example) and because their third-down conversion rate is completely unsustainable.

A lot of mocks have them taking Allen or Mayfield at 6
I think that might signal they don't, or they might have wanted more of a qb mentor. Unless a new OC is lined up to do that
