It puts into perspective that although Jankowski was drafted a year before Monahan, he's only a month older.

I wonder what he's tipping the scales at now? He has to be easily over 200lbs.

Let's not forget one guy was drafted 6th over all and the other guy was drafted in the 20's. /facepalm

Monahan has more goals than any forward from Jankowski's or Monahan's draft classes. He's also third in points behind Galchenyuk (3rd OA) and MacKinnon (1st OA).
Monahan's accomplishments are impressive, but the 2012/2013 first rounds, there are still quite a few players still looking to catch their NHL break. Poirier, for instance, is only three months younger than Jankowski. Forsberg, who was more NHL-ready than Janko, just broke out last year.
The main thing to remember is that the Flames said from day one, that it would be four, five years before Janko would be in the NHL.

Sure but that means roughly zero now because you where are drafted doesn't mean much, if anything, once you get to the NHL. You don't get bonus points for being drafted higher.

Sure you do. If he weren't drafted high, Nail Yakupov would still be in the AHL. High-drafted players make quicker NHL debuts almost invariably.

I am not sure the Oilers and Yakupov are great examples. But there are plenty of examples of high picks washing out as well. If you can play you make it, if you can't you are out regardless of draft position.
And it certainly isn't like Jankowski's draft position is holding him back from playing.
This is getting way off my original point that using comparing Monahan and Jankowski's ages in my view is a negative for Jankowski.
I guess its good to see people get so passionate about defending a prospect though!

I am going to predict that one of a) his early season face off percentage or 2) his early season scoring numbers are unsustainable.

With the 21st overall pick Flames select C Mark Jankowski
Are people seriously slagging Jankowski at this point? Just enjoy the fact he appears to be coming out of his shell

You're probably right. I'm sure every single pick is a group effort. However I think its obvious that some scouts are more responsible for certain picks than others. To give Feaster credit just doesn't make a lot of sense to me though. Based on that logic Burke's legacy should include the Hamilton trade and he should be given credit for it. That being said I really hope Jankowski can continue this offensive pace. If he can that would really be exciting.

That's more the build Johnny should go for. Jankos legs are the size of Marty St. Louis he will never have that build but I'm sure he's no chicken legs.

To be fair it appears as though his arm is pressed up against the side of torso, if you want go try this yourself and you will see how imposing it can make your biceps look. It is an old trick for body builders. I am not saying he is doing it on purpose, but it appears to have inflated his arm size. Please don't jump on me as a Jankowski hater I have always been a big supporter, simply trying to get a little fact in there.
I also realize how lame and nerdy it is to sit here and debate how jacked he looks in a picture. He is clearly in very good shape regardless.
