Alestorm + hurdy gurdy is a no-brainer combo

Got some change, and ended up with a coin that looked like a loonie. 1 million Avataros, which I guess is a marketing thing for the Swedish glam metal band Avatar. It actually looks like its been circulating a while.

Still one of the best riffs in metal history.

This is the most Canadian thing I've ever seen from a non-Canadian band

^^^^^^^^

Between that and their cover of Barrett's Privateers, I move that Alestorm is granted honorary Canadian citizenship immediately.

I don't care about the Olympics one bit, but Gojira performing a song from the French Revolution on freaking a castle next to a beheaded Marie Antoinette during the opening ceremony is ####ing awesome. Too bad there's no versions on Youtube yet where commentators actually shut up.

I found an Australian video of the opening ceremony in 4K that seems to have a version without commentary. The thing is I don't know how to share it without it getting taken down right away too.

While looking for the Gojira performance on YT, the algorithm fed me this and I'm not complaining

Growls are back, really promising first song for their new album.

Wow! I thought he was done with the growls as Watershed was the last album with growls. This is awesome.

love me some decent live recordings. Two of my favourite bands for a while ... saw both of them live in recent months as well and thought they were excellent. Still have Spiritbox on my "to watch live" list, but that'll change next February. Can't wait!

Threw this one on today for the first time in a bit, still as good as ever. Maybe the best Canadian metal album ever, and maybe the best metal album of the last 15 years.
